Location: Hmm... I'm confused. Anybody have a starmap to the Core?

It should count as perma if you haven't died. I don't know why T counts crashes as deaths.
Also, how did you hack it? Any hints, tips?

IIRC Trans counts crashes as deaths because it's trivial to force a crash. Of course, it's only slightly less trivial to save scum....

Hacking the archive is easy. Just raise it ~10 times, bring it back to steady at ~200, and lower it when you get close. You really only need to understand what you're controlling. To make an analogy, you need to drive to an office a mile away in a short time. Sadly, you can't be going too fast into the parking lot or you'll crash. However, while on the freeway, you can go very fast. To get to your destination, you'll need to accelerate up to freeway speed (increase virus), cruise along (match virus (throttle) to repairs (friction)), slow down (decrease virus), and pull into the lot (win!).

Just what Amilir described in his analogy, loading the virus in 5th gear earliest is the best start option then decelerate gradually til you see "Repairing", then wait for the green arrows to show up. Green is good, red is bad. :)

It's nice to follow your progress erik and BLOBERT. From reading your endgame text, have either of you tried befriending the Huari? They will give you an extra minor story arc that I don't think you've tried. If you don't mind a tip (quote this post or copy+paste the small text to read the tip): Destroy 6 Sung fortresses without attacking any Huari ships or bases.

Yep Aquilai me and Apotamo are drinking buddies. Hehehe. With regards to Ai hacking it is best to have Heisen CPU coz you have more viruses in it (i guess you figured that). Next you hagve two tries in hacking it, first try loading more viruses as quick as you can but when everything turns red on screen, stop(or click decrease). Then wait and you will see the effect.:)

Wait, is subdueing the AI supposed to be hard? I got it on my first couple of trys really, all I did was up the viral load to an insane amount then lower it as soon as it got around 4000 or so, after that its easy. The hardest part is not overshooting I would say. I think of it more like a rocket that must get to a certain height, but cannot be going too fast when you get to that height or something will explode.

SO like I, erik, and Amilar said, go really fast then slow down around a little less than 4000 or so.

George musta rebalanced Phobos right coz i destroyed em with micronukes(yipee!).
Never thought it was that good in finishing em of. The IM90 helped a little so i decided to smother them Phoboses with the awesome expanding explosions of each micronuke fired.

I have a new question: How do i play the Nares-Strong mission?

I tried it once but i did it after the quarantine was broken so i've no idea whatsoever how to release those thingies around the Heretic sun. Anyone there who got some answers be free to reply. :)

It's not about the sun. The mission requires you to triangulate. Or be extremely lucky. The way to do it is: drop three probes as soon as you got the device, somewhat far from each other. Then read the probe's distance from anomaly in the device's screen, fly to a position that make the distance to ship and distance to anomaly of the three probes equal, or very close(Because you can deploy the last probe 10 ls from the anomaly.)Then when you get all the distances right, drop another probe. If you are still not close enough, you should at least get a bearing(the direction the anomaly lies, in degrees from the north of the probe clockwise.) so position your ship accordingly, fly slowly until you reach the distance the probe tell you, and deploy. The mission should be done now. Return to the Nares Strong before the Iocryms boom it.


About the probes, shouldn't they know the bearing of the anomaly before the distance to it? Because, frankly, how can you know from how far something is from you, without first sensing some kind of light/sound/wave etc. coming from it? And if you sense anything like that, how come you don't know from which direction it came from? I think the probes should tell us the bearing first, and only be able to read the distance once we get near the anomaly, not the opposite as it is.

A human being with only one good ear can't tell which direction sound comes from, only how loud it is. The same principle applies to a RADAR antenna. Mathematically, a point receiver can only measure a scalar quantity (magnitude without direction), in practical terms, this is a consequence of using an omnidirectional receiver - the signal can be received from any direction, but the consequence is that it could have originated from any direction.

Otherwise, the Nares-Strong mission is an excellent introduction to triangulation. If only more games had these kinds of puzzles...

i'm playing T 1.0. I like the red shade of enemy/target tags here. Is it crimson red? I wish George would revert to this shade of red to upcoming versions. I hate the blinding damage alert though. It's so annoying. :(
