I am in the Ki Xyrrmir system. I am having trouble in fights against the Ares Orthodoxy and the Ventari. I am able to engage the Ranx and Rogue fleet ships, but whenever I fight Ares or Ventari now I get slaughtered. Is there any equipment I should get?
Here is my ship config:

First of all, don't worry about the Ventauri; If one starts chasing you, just run. They are really hard to kill unless you really know what you are doing.

Ares ships are vulnerable to blast damage. I would recommend looking for a powerful blast weapon. Akan weapons are good, but require ammo. Ares ships are resistant to particle damage, so your TeV 9 will not be as powerful against them. The stronger Ares ships (Deimos, Phobos) are resistant to thermonuclear damage, so missiles of that type will not work well.

The Ares mainly use ion weapons, which your Ithalium armour is weak to. However, they also use thermonuclear weapons, which is a strong point of your armour. If possible, find some more ion paste, or othermise invest in better armour.

Also, I would uninstall the two damaged patch spiders. They do not heal you if damaged, but still draw power. You are just wasting fuel by keeping them.

Destroy an isolated sandstorm, check the resistances of their armor, take action accordingly.

you need ion resistant armor, and a powerful ion weapon. (positron or plasma is good too :D ) you also need a basebuster weapon, eg. a thermo weapon, a howitzer, or the launcher you are using now, are ok solutions.

I have already made some changes already. I cleared some room in my cargo hold and removed the damaged patch spiders, I replaced them with an undamaged patch spider I got from a Ranx dreadnought. I also picked up a Ares positron cannon. I had a kiloton cannon, but I died and I don't think I had it when I reloaded. I am doing well against sandstorms and other small unshielded ships, but I have been running into their heavy gunships and capital ships and I have trouble them. Thanks for the help, this should make things easier.

A Katana Starcannon works decently on the small gunships (an I've been able to easily score Deimos kills w/o enhanving it), but you'll either need to enhance it or get a bigger weapon for the Phobos.
POSSIBLE SPOILER
Try shooting at the ships while you are drifting away and match their speed. They will continue to follow you and you will continue to shoot them.

creative , RPC, but even I could read it without glasses :)
yes, I found that trick in my first game by accident, after I died the battle screen was showing the ships with non directional weapons chasing their target unable to adjust the aim to hit what they were chasing :

in the game, I found that mining, missions and trade is the best way to gear up for Ares, my favorite hostile. But my favorite enemy is actually the Ranx.

I deal with Ares by trying to either hit them hard and fast ; or if they got me, run to the star : a Jagged edged star is the perfect sniper location when they got you 9 to 1

Welcome aboard Commander. :)

If you can lay your hands on one, I think an Akan 600 turret would work fine with your current armor/shields and the right tactics. It has a range of 120 LS (Light Seconds), and since it's an omni weapon you can shoot backwards at pursuing ships with deadly accuracy while running straight away.

The max range of the Ares Lightning turret is only 80 LS, so you can just pop 'em a few times from beyond that range to get their attention. Once they start to chase you, slowly retreat staying 85 to 120 LS ahead while you pick them apart with the Akan and you won't even receive a scratch. 8-) In the vanilla game there's probably no easier and safer way to kill Ares destroyers and drednaughts (Deimos & Phobos), even if your armor and shields are less than optimal.

Since you're good at killing Ranx, Akan ammo shouldn't be a problem for you. You can get all you need looting the wrecks of Ranx gunships. Heck, you probably already have a substantial supply if you haven't been selling the stuff. Also, 'cause the Akan 600 is an omni you'll score a far more hits per shot fired compared to a fixed mount weapon.

The Ventai's omnidirectional TeV 9 blaster also has a max range of 80 LS, so the same trick works against them too. With the right setup, farming Ventari can be very lucrative. The biggest problem with your ship might be hauling all the loot away in your tiny cargo hold.

P.S. Though not necessary for the feats described above, you can enhance it with Hexagene Boosters for even more fun (up to +150% if you can collect enough of them).

Thanks, I have acquired an Ares lightning turret, an advanced tritium cannon, and a positron lancer. I have a Kaidun Shield generator and octocarbide armor. I have gotten in a bit of a fix again though. I have 4 mule auto-ons that I generally leave a system or two behind me; unfortunately, it has gotten hard to keep them safe, so I ordered twelve double titanium barricades in order to form a fort around them when I leave. I then went to retrieve my order and brought a mule to help me carry them. I only have a one hundred ton max capacity though with my cargo bay enhancement, so it looks like I won't be able to retrieve my order until I can order another cargo bay enhancement from another corporate trading post.

Well welcome to the forums! Generally I try to use a longer range weapon that has some tracking on it, namely the IM90, but I don't think you got that 3 way weapon yet. :/ Hope this isn't too much of a spoiler.

To keep a mule safe, leave them in the middle of a planet or a star...also, you can only user 1 cargo bay upgrade on a ship...

Well, it looks like I will never get my order then. At least it should cost them a lot of money storing it. Serves them right for not letting me haul away my order in smaller pieces when I have already paid for it.

Pick a system where there are no Salvagers or Gaian Processors, and you can cache the loot that you don't immediately need by jettisoning it on top of the sun. Salvagers and Processors are the only ships that will steal your cargo crates, and on top of a sun the crates can't be accidentally destroyed by stray shots.

If you can pickup a Jump drive, you'll have direct access to the Elysium system from any jump gate. That's the ideal place to setup a Cache. You, your wingmen, and your mules are the only ships that have access to Elysium, so it's absolutely safe. You can leave your mules there too, and they'll need no protection.

if you order something from a station and the order is destroyed in transit: search the rourte to the nearest star gate, the freighter is rarely blasted to pieces and you can usually get your order off the wrecks: slightly dangerous adventure but it depends on how much you wanted the items.

and I agree with stationing mules on stars: i do that myself but not all stars are safe from the Ranx / Tundra Gunships : the reason is that they use blast weapons and the effects can damage or cause a ship to move off the protection of the star with the blasts.. BUT: very large planets can offer slightly more protection, but blast weapons still cause movement and thermal blasts can still damage.

Gaians do not loot; they demolish wrecks instead. Storing loot in indestructible wrecks, such as an Ares outpost you just toasted, is safe from Gaian interference.

If you are playing an earlier version of Transcendence, storing loot in Elysium is a bad idea because of possible device damage from Ventari. Systems Eridani, Rigel Aurelius, St. K's, and any system beyond Sanctuary is Salvager free, which means loot can be stored safely in wrecked stations in those systems.
