Is this armor/shield level damage adjustment still valid?

This was done on 1.01, in 2014.

Is this chart still valid for making shields and armor?

Yes. The only (minor) change since then is level 10 armor takes slight damage from laser and kinetic instead of being outright immune.

Thank you, but it seems I have another question.

How do all of these armor/shield modifiers work anyway? For instance, level 6 amor has initial 60% damage reduction against particle, while level 7 has 40%. These values do not show up on the game as we all know.


If that level 6 armor also has 150% damage resistance (which is displayed in-game), how does it do well against level 7 armor without any resistance? So... like..

(Raw particle damage / (100% + 150%)) X 60% = (RAW / 2.5) X 0.6

I guess this is it, right?

The game does not show resistance as resistance, but as additional hit points percentage instead. For example, particle at 40 would appear as +150% (because 100 / 0.4 = 250, and 250 - 100 = 150). Also, the rare vulnerabilities like -25% or -50% are a much bigger deal than they appear.

That tripped me up for quite a while.
