I haven't played the game in almost two years, it seems, and just picked back up. At that time I had started messing with some mods using a transcendence.xml file. I think I had downloaded that. Now i can't find it on the site. Help?

there is a new way of doing things first download transdata from here and put it in the same directory as the exe.

Then run transdata with the /decompile switch. This will put a folder called TranscendenceSource in this directory. In this are all the xml files that the game uses.

Also download the Sample Extension from that page and see what it is doing as an example. We no longer use the transcendence.xml for most mods we just make our own and put them into the extensions folder.

OK, I tried transdata (on two different XP machines just to be sure). When I use the /? switch, the options show. When I use the /decompile switch, I get the message "Unable to open data file: Transcendence.tdb"
When I use any other switch, I get the message "Unable to initialize Transcendence"
The transdata.exe is in the same folder as the Transcendence.exe
Anybody with any ideas?
Or is there a place to get the vanilla transcendence.xml file for .98d?
Thanks

I don't know what made the difference--cmd.exe seems to be picky in XP. Transdata worked just fine when I moved the whole transcendence folder closer to the root drive. Forgive my errors and thanks for the help.

hmm works fine for me (also uses xp) maybe because I changed directories to the folder that has it first. You can also use shortcuts to add switches just put the switch after the target.
