Hi all,

I just would like to know what are the units used in the game. For instance, I'm beginning to built stellar systems and I don't know the distance attribute in the Orbitals tag is expressed in ? As I saw somewhere someone talking about light-seconds, I checked and it seems to be OK. But I still don't know if it's really that...

And same for all the other units. Acceeration. Ship size. Time in normal or autopilot mode. Etc, etc...

Thanks in advance for any help !

In transcendence, the standerd unit of distance is the light-second. Light travels at (whirr whirr whirr) 299,792,458 metres per second in a vacum, so... (click clack click clack) 0.185789 miles, or 326.9 yd = 1 light second. I wish I had proper sanity checking... (click clack whirr) no, that sounds about right. Okay, 1 LS= 126.9 YD
[schilcote] It doesn't have to be good, it just has to not be "wow is that the only thing you could think of" bad

The speed of light in a vacuum is 186,282.397 miles per second.
299,792,458 is the right figure, in metric units.

If you look in the SystemTypes section of transcendence.xml, you'll see that most measurements are light-seconds. You can use light minutes also, for more distant objects.
It seems to me that light-second is the standard.
