It's awesome. Why? Unlike photoscape, it supports TRANSPARENCY (.png's)

Why do I need this? Because I'm going to be rendering my ships as png's so I can process them in a manner that results in no annoying black jagged borders :D

Also, I will be doing ships with translucent components.

I'm not sure here, but does Transcendence support the transparent png?

I don't believe so -- ships and stations require .bmps and .jpgs. Neither of those formats support transperency.

I suppose George would be able to answer that, but I haven't seen him in a while. :/

Nope. The game doesn't support PNGs.

Didn't think so.

Not that it really needs it -- George has done a fabulous job with good old BMPs and JPGs anyway.

The png's are so I can extract the alpha map to use as the sprite mask ;)

Indeed: it works amazingly well (see the current last page of the TSB thread for the results), but due to a bug transparency does not yet work on wrecks.
