how the heak is it supposed to work. Is it like repearing armour where you get more experience? Or what?

While you can theoretically blow yourself up, as it sets levels for you to be able to repair with, unless you're like, level 1 repairing a level 9 item you will in practice never die.

As for how you use it- you se it. Start at level 1 items, and work your way up.
