Hey all,

Making great strides in modding the game. Terribly exciting. Expect a slew of small-ish, gameplay-enhancing themed mods from me soon. One question though: how do I turn a .JPG image I got off of the web into an item picture? Using images from the StelliFer pack or from other mods works just fine, but when I crop said image to a single 96x96 item pic, recolor it and save it as a new file using Paint Shop Pro 7 (also cropping/re-saving the bitmask file), the item picture that shows up in the in-game menus is blank.

What am I missing?!

If someone can explain this to me clearly, I'll turn it into a tutorial for use on the wiki :) Thanks in advance, Transcendent pundits of greater moddistan!

Can I see the code? Make sure to declare a new UNID for the graphic and reference it properly. Be aware that T still has no png support as well (just in case you accidentally saved in .png)

Ah, digdug gave me some help in the IRC channel; think I've got this one figured out now. It was far, far more simple than I thought. I'm probably traumatized from modding Carmageddon 2, which was ridiculously picky about alpha channels and bitmasks. Will get back on this case after some more Wiki'ing, thanks for your help as well :)

Figured it out. Moved all of the images I was using/editing over to BMP format... repeatedly editing and saving JPG files leads to a small loss in quality every time.

Expect new graphics packs on Xelerus soon :)
