Luminous knat hive
A long dead Luminous strain that inhabits derelict stations. The enemy (what enemy is dependant on how the Transcendence universe develops) used their powers to revive and send them after the player ship. (the knats are considered friendlies)
When in the same system as an active knat hive every so often a knat appears out of nowhere very close to the ship and starts attacking. (plasma torch) But dies to one hit of nearly anything (anything but the missal defense)
To stop them must find station that is infected and dock and select a hidden option. (the dock screen needs to look the same as a normal derelict station)

Crying is not a proper retort!
I'm not so sure about that...how about, not just Luminous? All ships have a computer, that can be reprogrammed. Maybe you could get anything from a Corsair to a Ranx Dread-a-lot?
The universe is illogical. Get over it.

hmm that would be cool also put them into derelict ships (I don't want living ships because they tend to leave the system, and because they are seen as friendly I can't have them infect living stations). I call them Luminous because they are an old strain of Luminous that they stopped making long ago but the enemy has brought back.
Basicly the enemy is a force or alien (not sure yet) that wants to keep the status quo with the blockade. A puppet master of the Iocyrm.

How about Oracus as 'the enemy'?
Not sure the Iocrym link fits that though.
Since 'The Core' is not even really discussed, there might be somthing there that could weaken Oracus and/or strengthen Domina.

Oracus and Domina are rather lazy in the current game. Maybe if they where fleshed out some it would be more interesting but the current huge minds thing just doesn't interest me. At least Order of Penitence has goals beyond just worship.
Someone controlling the Iocrym has to have some purpose (that isn't just because they are good or evil).
