@Karl
My understanding was that he was going to design an application in VB that allowed anyone to make mods, with no knowledge of XML whatsoever. As in, press the weapon button, and it asks you in simple form to imput max damage, min damage, rarity, etc. It does the XMLing for you. A very ambitious project. I'm half tempted to try something similar in PHP.
Transcmod
Oh, that is interesting... and very doable.
Hmmm, have forms for weapons/ships/etc. that allow you to change the basic stats and then output an XML mod for you.
It wouldn't allow any real fancy custom work, but it would allow neophytes to do some basic modding.
A worthy project, and VB is the right language to use for it. I say go for it!
The hardest part would probably be finding, extracting, and then pasting the proper unid definitions from the base XML files, but you can get around that by just pasting all the unids into the mod files (It doesn't hurt anything, just makes the modded XML files a little bigger. And besides, when has a code "auto-generator" ever been efficient?)
Damn, now I'm tempted to do this myself.... no no no, must redirect programming energies to other projects...

Curse you yugi, taking my ideas. I guess...since I'm pretty much a newb at this programming/modding/what ever you call this, I should only be a distraction. I'll think about what I can do. Like I said though, Burzmali probably can help too...
