That's right. You are free to re-write your own functions, even if based on Transcendence functions, as long as they look sufficiently different.

[If you copy the code verbatim, then you're still free to use it, but then the copied piece of code falls under my copyright and you have to honor the terms of the licence: attribution, non-commercial, etc.]

In practice this is not going to be a problem.

Could you elaborate on your license for the game XML and such?
