As a throw back from two post of mine, periculi and bluesaberist (his topic), as soon as ive finished testing (read Playing) with the wounderful system26 mod that periculi has just released (only V1 but still awesome).
http://periculi.com/Sys26v1test2.zip

The in game clock would be difficult (read not imposible, but lots of work; However good things come to those who wait). But with the System26 tracking I think a timer similar to Escape Velocity (Nova) could be succesfuly implimented, this combined with the affore mentioned tracking system for other systems (important objects only) could open up a many mission posibilities.
eg.
  1. Longer to perform the Antarctic mission as it could be chased through other systems as at the moment when it Gates out it is gone for good.
  2. cargo runs to other systems {deliver these supplies to the ### system in four days and save our people from starvation} kind of missions.
  3. timed multisystem patrols (for those that have played StarTrek Klingon Academy this is a similar idea)
  4. And finaly a multi system non-stop war (See the KA game for the coolness of this)

will update this post with the multi tacking time thingimee whatsit tht I guess I'm going to try to design, unless periculi wants to stick it in System26 V1.1.

P.S. Some one come up with a name for this mod as Im usless at it.
The Earth is just too small and fragile a basket for the human race to keep all its eggs in.

Got one for you already at xelerus, if you want to look at a time management system prototype. :)

You might also want to check this topic.

I am building a new version of my Calendar and Event Manager into Sys26.
In the version for Sys26 you will be able to access a fairly robust set of time functions to track events, fire functions, manage missions, etc.
