is it possible to reference or call to a specific column of an animation sequence, rather than the animation playing out along the normal lines when your ship changes facings, to be tied to specific events?
like,
####A ####B ####C (20 or however many facings down)..
this would normally be done in sequence
so I'm wondering if like column B or column C could be called to/referenced/used
edited: I'm revisiting this..
I still don't know if there is that much control over the various frames in an animation sequence.. but here's the two ideas that came to mind using that, if its possible
1) 5 frames.. keep the mask as normal for the ship across all the frames. in each frame more of the ship isn't blacked out.. the final frame has the ship as fully being seen .. tie the frames to the shield levels, slap some stealth armor on it, and you have an invisible ship who's invisibility depends on how much of the shields you have.
2) each frame represents a variation of that ship type.. have an item that does something akin to charges.. each charge represents a given frame.. you purchase 'upgrades' which give speed, space, etc.. its a different way around the buying ships thing.
