Ship Measurements?

Out of curiosity (and for my own meaningless pursuits), are there any actual measurements for ships in the game? Is a pixel in ship-size supposed to represent a certain length or anything? Or are ships sizes fairly arbitrary?

I seems rather arbitrary to me, though following a roughly logarithmatic scale

George shared recently with us this table:

I suppose that ships follows a similar rule, as Wolfy said.

Code: Select all
pixel meters
256 - 712 -CSC
196 - 446 -Iocrym
160 - 313
128 - 212
96 - 128
64 - 63 -playerships
56 - 50
40 - 28
32 - 19 -battlepod
size in meters = (pixels /6)^1.75
A modern jet fighter is roughly 15-20 meters long
A modern aircraft carrier is roughly 300-350 meters long

I don't image that the size of a jet fighter or aircraft carrier has much of anything to do with the size of a space vehicle of any kind, since the technological requirements would be completely different and people would have to spend considerably more time in a space craft than a jet fighter. Also a CSC obviously does not work on the same scale, and that's fine. I'm just wondering if its a pixel-per-meter or anything like this, consistent across the board for ships. If its not, then I won't worry about it.

Don't worry about it: just size it to "what feels right"
take the AntaresV: it's scaled linearly in comparison to the other antares, but it doesn't follow the same style scaling as the rest of the ships.
