I seem to have failed in trying to make mods for transcendence; I can make little things that are fun for a while, but they aren't quite good enough to be released among you lot - you are far more skilled in these areas than I.
So, I began to think. What if I were to collaborate instead of work independently? Still, this raises quite a few more problems. My areas of expertise would hardly be relevant to the Transcendence programming and mod collections.
However, I think I can do something. What if the scrolling text in the opening were to be replaced with an animated cut scene? If a Flash animation can be incorporated into the game, then I would like to explore this possibility.
And, if not, I can just make a bunch of little animations for the "Off Topic" section. If I can't contribute to the game, I can contribute to the community, you know?
Collaboration, anyone?

I don't know if you can collaborate or if there are currently any open mods that need help! But you should join the IRC (http://wiki.neurohack.com/transcendence/wiki/irc) and talk to us directly!

I think a large collaborative mod pack would be interesting. It should probably include some element of humor (Massive Uber Particle Acellerating Antimatter Instadeath Supercannon that destroys everything in the system- including the player (insurance dosn't cover damage due to gross negligence)).
Perhaps a Microsoft Inc. drive upgrade that makes your ship go soi soi soi...

[schilcote] It doesn't have to be good, it just has to not be "wow is that the only thing you could think of" bad
Thing about transcendence is that since it's such a small game, most mods being done for it are equally small and can usually be finished by one person unless it is code/graphic collaboration.
However, if you were making a large gigantic total conversion mod, I'd say collaboration would be a necessity...

As a relatively new member myself, i would very, very strongly suggest you come to IRC if you would like to begin modding.
Throw some ideas out and ask lots of questions. Someone is almost always online that can answer questions and help you get started. I often get stuck with some code in mods or sometimes I need feedback on how something should be balanced. IRC is almost essential for new modders.

Its not that I'm a new modder; its that I'm just not a very good modder.Prophet wrote:IRC is almost essential for new modders.
But, I'll pop in the IRC sometime, I guess.
