...but it would currently kind of ruin the purpose of flying around in your ship and shooting people:
Flying around and shooting MORE people!!!
This "mod" would require a total re-write of the Transcendence universe so it can be compatible with a 3D hardware accelerator (maybe). I noticed when you move your ship, you also move the camera. But this "mod" would need a function to move the camera WITHOUT moving your ship. At key high-action parts of the game the camera would move away from the ship and turn your mouse into a targeting reticule that you could use to aim and fire a beam that does a low yield but hoses the target and repels bullets...
You wouldn't be able to have a targeting program so all key ships (the ship you're defending and worldship class targets.
P.S. I didn't really know whether to post this in Shipyards or Bugs & Brainstorms. It could go in the latter for the "total re-write of the universe" part but since it's only one addition I decided to put it where it did.
I really don't care if I get my hair cut... *snip* NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

While we're at it, why don't we make Transcendence an MMO.
[schilcote] It doesn't have to be good, it just has to not be "wow is that the only thing you could think of" bad

Hmm. sorry josh19967, your enthusiasm is great but I'm afraid that's probably out of the realms of possibility within the engine at the moment.
George barely has the time to work on the actual game, let alone do a total re-write for us.
Even if the full source code was released, that project would take a while to actually put into action.
Nice idea and good to see you love the game so much, but leave that idea in the "nice idea" pile. :/

Imagine if the Battle Arena (Rigel Aurelias) became on online event!
Players could select a ship and battle it out to the death with a mix of AI and human opponents.

Actually, that idea isn't so far-fetched. It is well within the realms of possibility.... >.>

I'm all for the Transcendence MMO, and will surely purchase once its on steam. :)

Your idea is interesting josh, however like it was said abit earlier its not possible with the current engine, and more over, were talking new graphics. By all means if you know someone who knows UDK -- get them to give it a go, but I don't think its currently possible any time soon with the current engine. :/
