Would a player be interested in installing a slotless weapon that is 1-2 levels higher than the nominal level ?
Is a bunch of such weapons balanced or would just ruin everything ?
Or maybe they are just useless and nobody would use them? (example: a level 3 slotless laser cannon that is identical to a level 1 laser cannon)
maybe some utility weapons would do ? slotless mining laser, slotless plasma torch ?
any comment ?

Not unless the weapons are external and can be damaged, like the NM900 missile pod. Otherwise, slotless weapons are a loophole for the EI500 to evade weapon slot limits.
For the other playerships (i.e., Sapphire and Wolfen), it will not matter by late game because equipment becomes so heavy that equipping more than necessary overburdens the ship and slows turning speed down.

Making them heavier would mean only the EI500 would use them. Currently, the only ship suffering from lack of weapon slots is the EI500. The other two ships have to watch their weight as essential device upgrades get progressively heavier.

Well, my first set of mods were external guns with a 0-slot perk to them. I made them be disposable....and not be reloadable.
However....I wouldn't do it again, as it wasn't the best approach. They DID have a certain charm to them however, and I can see where you're going with this.
While I never quite managed it, slotless disposable weapons CAN work I feel, and if you can make them do so, it'll be awesome.
The trick is not giving an overly high buff to the ship in doing so. So higher weight, lower damage, decreased fire-rate....that sort of thing. Or having a buffer system that means you can only install a single Slot-less gun at once.
