Hello. I am trying to get myself used to Photoshop now, so I used your request as a bit of practice by trying to make a rainbow shockwave(I hope you won't mind). I am not sure if it's what you want, so please tell me if there are anything you want to change. (Of course, I do hope that your request is still open, or I would be making myself silly, again ).

That's not what he wants. Look at the actual shockwave resources. They're wide shallow rectangles that undergo a cartesian-polar transformation to produce the shockwaves seen in the game.

Try this. I don't think it will work how you want, though. I think you'll get an unsightly seam and there's no way to avoid it.

I took the shatter shockwave, desaturated it, made a new layer, did a gradient fill, and set it to color.

very nice shockwave

interestingly, there are "seams" between colours inside the shockwave image, evenly spaced. I wonder why.
