If George is alright with this, after I finish TX2 and the mod manager, I plan on starting a Transcendence themed strategy game [almost guaranteed to be done on an engine of my creation]
I'm hoping to strike a balance between simplicity of play and depth:
In its current idea stage, it would take place within the quarantine zone between a number of the factions there, certainly including the Commonwealth and the Ares.
It would use a smooth rate-based economy, which in simplest terms means that if you are making +100 units of materials/money per second, then you build a destroyer, while its being built, the destroyer uses 50 units of resources per second, so then you have +50 left to spend. Then, once its done building you have +100 again.
I'll come up with some more ideas and explanations later on.
[idea] Transcendence-themed strategy game

So my preliminary ideas go like this:
your command is a shipyard: from here, you can build ships
more or less, each faction gets a:
scout
fighter
gunship
light capship
heavy capship
carrier capship
minelayer?
long-range support ship
mining ship
and perhapse several faction-specific ship types
Also, buildable stations include:
mining station [these can build mining ships]
defense turrets
outposts (simply provide a good LOS boost and a few docking ports)

I'll make an uber-detailed post later >.>
anyways Ttech, I know there are space-rts's, but there arn't too many of them, and I hope to design something unique

bah.. there aren't any good recent epic space strategy games. MoO3.. too buggy..
I wish someone would remake something like Empire of the Fading Suns, but when I think back, that game ran on a 32mb system.. and wasn't very good AI.
In fact, it was hunting for a good sci-fi strategy game that led me to transcendence. And it's more of a space shooter.
I still want to find a great space empire builder game.
