Due to the statistically high presence of browndwarfs in our galaxy (even those that are pretty much dimly glowing independantly formed gas-giant sized worlds), there are some theories that there migth be some closer to our solarsystem than even proxima centauri. Nasa's new WISE satelite will be out there looking for them, along with white dwarfs and neutron stars.

Also interesting is that browndwarfs have been found with acceration disks (hinting at planetary systems), and whitedwarfs/neutron stars have been found with systems orbiting them as well. (for whitedwarfs, its usually the original system, but for neutron stars, they tend to be totally new systems formed within the extent of the original star where an acceration disk formed as gases were sucked back into the neutron star.)

So I might very well have to redo my topology if the WISE telescope makes any findings of these tiny stars near our own system... XD
