There's a great game that I forgot about long ago called Lords of the Realm II and it was awesome. It had meshed real time strategy with turn based strategy seemingly well. It is now freeware, but without the fancy cutscenes. Wining the executable (it's a win32 app) only allows me to play the turn based strategy (I have yet to test the combat aspect in linux), and it has an ip/lan multiplayer setting that can't be used.
If I were to try to remake the game so that it's cross-platform, what would I need to do? Besides coding (unfortunately, still learning), what are the legal aspects that I need to ensue?
