I decided to check out the new browser from Google, and managed to install it and get back here to report- not bad for the minute worth of installing and importing all my data from Firefox, eh?
The first thing I tried after installing was getting Flash Player... but apparently I didn't need to. It seems to have been included. Which is the first time that has ever happened- all the other browsers I have installed required me to go get the plug in and install it... saved me 5 minutes there, Yay!
Anyone else checking out Chrome from Google?

I don't think they added that yet. Are you talking about that (annoying) ability to press the mouse wheel and move the page up and down with the mouse by moving it? I never use that feature.
No, thats a standard feature.
Mouse gestures controll scrolling through your tabs, open a new tab, page, closing a tab, page, going back and forth in history, maximze and minimize the window an other things

What do you think about the endless stream of spawns ?
What about modding wandering spawns which dont attack the player directly ?

Well, I looked it up. Not even a standard feature of Firefox- it's a plug in. Chrome can use plug ins, although since it just came out I doubt you will find many. Someone will probably do it. I like Chrome because it's got some great features for testing pages (try right click -> view element), and has a lot of focus on speed and multi-processing for RIA viewing.
I am using Chrome right now.
Things I like:
Compact, no file menu at all (and I don't miss it0
New Tab window is <3 awesome
Dragging tabs is far easier than in FF, you can even drag to the taskbar
Highlights the top level name of the site you are at
Address bar and search bar are the same
Things I don't:
no FF extensions, namely adblock.
I know some like 'em but I don't miss gestures, I've always found that mouse gestures take more time and effort than just clicking the appropriate button on the GUI, let alone using the keyboard shortcuts.
We'll see after a few weeks but I may just switch.

Keep in mind that it's just a early Beta!

[schilcote] It doesn't have to be good, it just has to not be "wow is that the only thing you could think of" bad
I tried this out the other day, was very good and copied everything from FF, unfortunately it can't do RSS stuff so I'll wait until when (if?) they add functionality for it. It was very nice-looking, and I was amazed at the 500kb download. The install crashed randomly first time, but finished fine the second.
The tab functionality is really, really nice, much smoother, simpler and effective than FF. I like that the address bar is several other bars combined into one. It was also at least as fast as FF (with roughly same number of tabs open) on my rather aging computer.
I never used mouse gestures as I can use all the FF shortcuts with my non-mouse hand at least as quickly (doesn't work so well when I use a kb that I'm not used to).
One that intrigues me is that the entire browser is about 500kb; Flash must take up quite a bit of that. Just goes to show the efficiency of the coding ^_^

Indeed, that is full of awesomenessPericuli wrote:The first thing I tried after installing was getting Flash Player... but apparently I didn't need to.

Yup, and noticed the same as Periculi (same as all the others). Nothing particularly evil in there that you can't switch off.Dorne wrote:Did you guys read the terms of service?
