It was a really, really terribly formatted web page.

As for rickrolls... the original "Never Gonna Give You Up" has considerable power, but as it was not designed to be a memetic agent it could benefit a very great deal from attenuation. This is a result of such:

Actually, it's more of a blending of another, more powerful agent as well as some attenuation, but you know...
