Actually, we (ttech and I) were looking at putting a web-IRC client in a forum (experimented with SMF 2.0 so far; works pretty nicely... but it reloads every time you go to a new page, so I am trying a new approach where it is just one click away from any page on the forum, so you can easily open it up into a new tab or something)

The 'on every page' was going to have it in a pre-collapsed form, though its a null issue now.
(and no way I would make it in flash DX - what a terrible idea! lol)

I saw one that was AJAX. It saved the chat log so everyone that logged in could see the previous conversations...unlike most IRC's where you come in mid-way to a conversation. :/alterecco wrote:That would be the way to go about it. Personally I would hate it if it was on every page. And if it is flash, forget about it!

Just when I thought this bug had died down.....
I just got the emailer.php error message replying to CFG on the 1.03 thread in Commonwealth.
As usual, I navigated back to the index and found out that the post had indeed been made. Also as usual, the forum told me that I hadn't read this new post yet.
Just thought I'd let y'know Wolfy.
Y'know, that the forum sucks and all that.
*Nudge nudge, wink wink.*

I'm getting this error with every post I make from work (using IE 7 here, because this is a computer in sore need of updating >.<)

Most likely the bug appears when someone has asked to be notified by email of new posts to a thread.
In turn the server has either had its mail server setup changed (just like we were seeing the mailing errors on trac recently. A possible solution could be turning off registering threads for mail updates (or fixing the mail setup, or the mail server setup)

Face it guys, its just plain broken. >.>
Since the emailer.php error mostly happens with forum PMs, and I've consequently both sent and received duplicate messages from others, maybe there should be a sticky somewhere visible stating that the error does not prevent the posting of actual messages.
To prevent confusion.

it actually happens when you check anything that says "notify me" e.g. in forum or such. Anyone who checks this will cause the mailer error to occur.SiaFu wrote:Since the emailer.php error mostly happens with forum PMs, and I've consequently both sent and received duplicate messages from others, maybe there should be a sticky somewhere visible stating that the error does not prevent the posting of actual messages.
