Really, all the questions has to be something that only a human understands. If you go random, you could have questions like:

"What is the name of the space-exploration video game this forum has been set up to discuss?" A: Transcendence

"I have a pet with four legs, fur, a tail, two pointy ears and an appetite for meaty-bites and bones. My pet is a:" A:Dog

"Did you understand the ending of LOST?" A: No (only computers could work out what the ending was meant to mean xD)

All you have to do is change the question every three months. Smart bots that work it out will get access for three months, then have the question changed on them.

Or do it monthly if you are getting heavily spammed. -_-

bots can figure out numerical sequences, but I think you may be right about text (especially strings of more than yes/no length).

So stick with a question and I think we should be allright.

Also, although non-admin can't see it, there hasn't been a single bot account made since this went into effect. One legit user, and 3 test accounts though.

Make sure its something very easy that they can figure out on the spot.

How about:

"What is the name of the game?"

That would also weed out any users that can't spell Transcendence :)
