:lol: The current build is a mess- It's filled with half done stations and scripts. most of what I've talked about isn't fully implemented. Soon however I'll have stkat's up and running (and CSC antarctica will be there if you save it) and the friendly(able) ares are mostly done (best part is that if you kill them BEFORE you save antarctica, it won't ruin your chances to befriend them- other than the phobos they send ofter you... (for a shipyard)) (no dockscreens though)

Once I finish those, I'll continue working on the Charon

I decided for now I'll just leave all the charon ships as plain white for now. I'll decide later if I want to use the color shaded images.

I'm working on the following ships ATM:

Charon shieldship- seen only once in the shadow/house war. It's front armor is very strong (adv. charon blast plate), however it uses only heavy titanium plates in the back.

Charon libertalia- basically the Shadows equivalent to a CSC. Like all shadow ships, it is equiped with stealth (I'm try to find out if it's possible to do via the shield generator, but through the armor would be OK). Libertalias will appear in similar areas to CSC's and will give missions of similar difficulty (against the main Ares sect, House of Charon, and the Teraton raiders)

Charon barbarossa- a house battleship- it's function is to be like the phobos dreadnought- rarely occuring naturally, but when it does occur, it's usually by itself due to the sheer difficulty level involved.

A view into the brainstorms of several new factions:

1) Space barbarians
while the name might imply primitive ships and weapons that get blown away by the EI500's omni laser, the barbarians are far from that. Yeah, the weapons are primitive and the ships are masses of old peices and parts cobbled together, they are powerful, deadly, and come in large groups.

Some common items used by the barbarians are:
weapons:
coilguns- similar to the Canis Industries railguns, they fire projectiles that do either a high kinetic or blast damage value. These weapons are require more power to acheive the same effect however.
gauss cannon- a giant kinetic/blast cannon with astounding range. They are a howitzer type weapon.
gamma laser- a laser capable of inducing localised thermonuclear fission. It suffers from being illegal and having short range, but it's strong, irradiates, and is counted as an energy weapon (longzhu spheres).
uranium bolter- fires the uranium fuel cell items as ammo. also illegal. Dont worry about finding them- they come in large quantities on the barbarian ships (they use them as fuel)
impaler- an actual melee weapon (don't know if it'll work or not), this basically uses a "directional explosion" so to speak. the impaler sticks out and attempts to impale any nearby ship on itself. It has V - E - R - Y limited range however.

random:
fission reactor- incompatible with normal ships systems, these illegal devices can be installed to provide extra energy similar to a solar cell system. To refuel it, go to the se screen and se the reactor. It will put you into a dockscreen where you can refuel it.
uranium fuel rod- used in their reactors and bolters. not a new weapon

shields:
Dispersive shielding- a very basic form of shielding this type of "shield" so to speak simply diverts energy away from the armor. It is a cross between a superconducting shield (no recharge) and that high level human made dampening shield. Don't bother installing this item- just sell it to a Xelerus Exotics store.

armor:
carbide composite plate- weaker than most carbide armors, the carbide composite plate is composed of various pieces of carbide armor
plasteel composite plate- like above, but plasteel and thus very very weak. Only seen on non-critical segments or small ships
phasic composite plate- live above, made out of combinations of hexaphase types of armor.

2) Danthorians
They are an alien race living fairly close to sol (topology wise). They arn't hostile, but they arn't very friendly either- being very cautious, you'll have to impress them before they'll let you do anything after docking
Impressing them often involves killing Solarites and Solarians (both are part of the same faction that is trying to conquer the sol system. There is a large war between them, the ares and the CW over the area. Both mars and earth are radioactive wastelands from the early war, but they are slowly recovering. Both are protected by planetary shields (basically the arena's walls) and a fleet from each government.

The danthorians are indifferent the the humans squables over territory, however the Solarians are not much better than the House of Charon- and the Solarites are pretty much their analog to the Marauders.

Once you befriend the Danthorians, you recieve a data rom that reveals what their unknown type of devices are. And yes, they use a THIRD currency. They will buy almost anything if you find the right station.

They pretty much provide an equivalent to the CW in their region of the topology.

The devices they possess range from familiar to bizarre depending on the "caste" of the station/ship you dock.

Uninitiated/Civilian Science/Historian/Researcher:

Weapons:
Tau pulse cannon- a light blaster style energy weapon which is usually found mounted on small ships
Polaric torpedo- a small but powerful torpedo system. Uses polaric torpedos.
Monopole repulsor array- an AOE system like the Shatter ability or the penitent shrine attack that deals minor amounts of damage but tends to throw small ships very far, very fast. Not unlike the Luminous boss meta-assembler's repulsor, but this is less damaging.
Shocker- this is a packetized EMP weapon with a small unstability factor to the projectiles allowing them to detonate after a certain time. They deal no damage but do have an EMP effect. They blow up in a shockwave style like the monopole repulsor array.

Shields:
Dimagnetic plasma shields- these shields receive negative damage from plasma and to a lesser extent, particle weaponry- the HP boost dissipates over time though. These are otherwise unremarkable generic shields. (light and heavy variant)

Armor:
Light Transphasic plating- this is some really great stuff! light, hard, and resilient. The only problem is that it's impossible for most human stations to repair (only Canis Industries shipyards which vend a Transphasic based armor and Ringer shipyards can repair Transphasic plating). Transphasic armor is capable of reflecting particle and ion damage (grins evilly at ventari destroyers)

Military/military science/exploratory forces:

Weapons:
Heavy Polaric torpedo system- this will rapidly fire polaric torpedoes
negatron accelerator- a beam-style antimatter weapon
missile negator- a small shockwave generating device that will blast incoming material projectiles. far superior to the ICX.
micro singularity burster- like the morning star, it fires a bunch of small damaging particles. The micro singularities are very short lived though so it has small range.
divergence cannon- a crude but fully functional dark matter weapon. It may not be as energy efficient as the penitent cannon, but besides the 300MW needed per turret to run it it's a very good weapon (until you come across some luminous which are apparently somewhat resilient to dark matter/energy attacks.

Shields:
dark matter collimator- a shield that pretty much uses a thin wall of dark steel to protect the ship inside. It has nice recharge and good all-around resistances though it does fall a bit short in the dark acid category. almost fully immune to dark steel attacks (DC250 and DC500 for smaller ships, DC750 and DC1000 for the largest of capital ships)

Armor:
Transphasic Armor- like previous, but now it's a bigger piece. Military uses variants Light-Heavy)
Nonarionic Quantum Armor- this is fairly heavy armor, but it's incredibly strong. It cannot be repaired by any stations but Danthorian or advanced alien (Caidiylin DON'T count as they are less advanced than humans) stations. military uses variants light-massive. This armor cannot be disintigrated.

Thinkers:

Weapons:
Manipulator Array- the danthorians have achieved a very rudimentary form of telekinetic powers available only to the thinker caste (this is the only caste where the individuals are chosen at birth). While nowhere as powerful as as domina's ability to control dark matter, these devices are still VERY potent. There are 6 variants- one for each dark matter/energy type, regular matter, and gravitron. you (the player) cannot use these array type devices until you reach the final mission set for the danthorians in which you are accepted into the thinker caste.

Shields:
Spacial Array- this array type device is used to reflect any type of damage. It has NO ability to absorb damage though

Armor:
Massive Nonarionic Quantum Armor- it's probably not surprising this armor (level 16? 17?) is immune to all lower forms of attack (chemical blast, kinetic, laser, particle) and very resiliant to most other damage types you encounter. BTW- it's 50 tons a piece, so the only way to use it is to use the Canis Industries battleship.

yay! all those armor types I described have been implemented.

I'll probably finish up the bigger stkats system and add in it's civilian ships. After that I'll probably make the rest of the charon ships and script in all the charon stations.

Now it has:
16 defence turrets around the city perimeter
8 nav beacons at the perimeter with the turrets

3 aquilas with 2 centurions each

CSC Pangaea with 2-8 centuion-X's

Next I'll make a rom that spawns a huge ares fleet and I'll be watching the fireworks... :D

Patrol Auton

- a military rated auton, the Patrol Auton is used by the commonwealth in its systems as lone patrol craft. They are generally able to fend for themselves. Killing one usually results in the attacker being chased by a few Police Autons. I might disable them from attacking the player since crossfire DOES happen... I'll see...

Police Auton
4x heavy blast plate, 1x EMP, 1x Tev9, Class IV shields
- another CW military rated law enforcement auton, these guys usually only appear when someone has killed a patrol auton. They are heavy and hard hitting- and they come with a flashing light animation! :D They do appear in Stk's system.

SWAT Auton
4x P100 hexphase, 2x katana, SWAT shields
- Cousin to the CW500 Battle auton, the only difference is in shields and weapon type- CW500's use the R9 for combat against the ares. A whole battalion of SWAT autons will gate in and attack somebody if they killed a (non slum) CW station. SWAT auton shields are optimized to defend against the first 4 damage types but are fairly weak to anything above that.

CW500 Battle auton
4x P100 hexphase, 2x Tev9, R9 shields
- Superior to a Centurion, one might wonder why the CW still uses them. Or why they just don't use SWAT autons. The answer? Centurions are cheap both in material cost and upkeep. CW500's are expensive and very slow to build since the machinery is usually used for low end average consumer autons (low demand). And why not SWAT autons? They are obviously even more expensive. There are only about 1000 in existence at any one time. the CW doesn't usually bother ordering more than that.

CW850 Battle auton
4x P100 hexphaser, 2x Katana, R9 shields
- This was an experimental model designed by the CW but outside of a few prototypes, none were made on the production line due to the incredibly high costs.

Looter auton
2x Charon light blast plate, 1x omni laser, Charon A deflectors.
- A simple construct of the Charon pirates, these small ships will dock with wrecks and loot what is there. They arn't used too often since they cost about as much as a pair of Vikings and are often used by CW militia and citizens for target practice. They also have an AI bug where they will waste time looting stargates.

Courier Pod
1x light titanium
- a small pod used by the st.k's metropolis to deliver various small goods from one place to another. Gameplay wise? It's just set dressing.

Luminous Pod
1x luminous armature, 1x ion cannon.
- These can be found in systems with luminous. They tend to just wander around after they are built. Luminous assemblers may have some in their wrecks too.

C280 Heavy Multi-role Auton
4x Octocarbide, 1x omni ion gun, 1x dual ion gun (lighter version of ion blaster), Mammoth100
- This is an expensive auton available only as a gift. It's got some cargo space too! (50 tons)

I'm drawing up concept art at the moment- I'm planning on doing the autons, charon, danthorians, barbarians and maybe a few playerships all in one session, so i'm trying to decide on a design for each I'm certain I want- not one I'll change part way through.

I'll probably start modeling in a few weeks. (I'm also working on a few other projects)

I've got almost all the concepts done so I'll be able to start modeling all the ships probably next weekend or weekend after that.

I decided to change the ranx storyline a bit- now it's not them vw. the kobol (because I couldn't come up with any good kobol ships) but rather the ranx empire vs. the ranx warlords

The Ranx Empire is dying- after the last emperor died without appointing a heir, the Ranx Imperial Space Fleet attempted to maintain order in the period of turmoil which followed. Several of the generals in the RISF decided that they would prefer a permanent military rule than revert back to the semi meritocracy that was in place before (with the Emperor choosing a heir based on service and loyalty to the empire's greater good while also being able to lead at the same time). After their coup failed, these generals had split off from the empire and began building stations of their own in hopes of conquering the nation which they once served.
In the decades that followed, a new emperor was still not found. The Ranx are currently led by a temporary council composed of the previous emperor's advisers. The civil was continues to this day, and so does the search for a new emperor. Unfortunately the weakened Empire has aquired several new enemies besides the warlords- the kobol, and the sung. They manged to acquire a tentative cease-fire with the ares and a trade agreement with the commonwealth however (Which is why the ares don't like them too much).

The player can either:
save the empire (and become the new emperor/empress in the process)
destroy the empire if already allied with the sung

The Ranx Warlords and Ranx Imperial Space Fleet use in general different ships, though their stations tend to be the same (the empire has civilian stations as well however- it's more like a commonwealth with ranx architecture)

Ranx Warlords: their ships tend towards massive armor and weaker shields (when present) as well as rasiermesser weaponry and other off-the-shelf consumer ammo weapons (ie, akan series, rasiermesser launcher, kiloton cannon, etc.). Their ships are generally rounded in the style of the current ranx gunship.

partrol ships- these are small, fast little craft that look not too dissimilar from the old centuarian raider. They are light (plasteel plate) and poorly armed (single slow firing akan 5) but travel in groups of four to six.

gunships- these are the familiar ranx gunships. Mid sized attack craft they travel alone or as escorts for a larger ship or a convoy. The Mk1 employs only a single akan 5 but the Mk2 employs an akan 600. They have hardened plasteel armor and a Class 3 deflector.

Blockade runner- these are small, fast transports. They are armed with an akan 1 cannon (a lighter version of the akan that uses less energy, is cheaper and but deals less damage). They are equipped with class 2 deflectors and regular plasteel armor

destroyer- these look vaguely like a cross between the ranx outpost and the deimos destroyer. They are equipped with a thermo cannon and a pair of turreted akan 5's. They are protected by blast plate and class 3 deflectors

dreadnought- these are the huge capital ships that many have come to fear. They are armored with transuranic plating and patch spiders as well as Class 5 shields. They are armed with a kiloton cannon, 4 thermo cannons and six turreted akan 5's. They also sport their only custom weapon, the ranx mass driver- it works just like the iocrym repeller- it's used to keep people out of the range in which the kiloton shells don't arm (removal of that "exploit"). It deals only superficial kinetic damage however.

Ranx Empire (RISF): their ships tend towards energy weapon resisting armor and anti-physical weapon shields. They manufacture their own weaponry. Their ships are generally in the style of the current ranx dreadnought.

super freighter- this is the empire's analog to the CW scarab- it's a massive superfreighter used to carry military cargo and is as slow you'd think it'd be. It at least has shields. The ship is equipped with a Type A shield, Irismium armor and a pair of ranx gauss cannons.

fighter- given a dual gauss cannon system and Type B shields (ranx shields are good vs. thermo/blast/kinetic) it is clearly superior to it's warlord counterpart (the patrol ship). It has light Irismium armor- a metalic armor very capable at absorbing/deflecting energy weapons but weak against non-energy weapons. Can be seen patrolling in flights of 3- these are fairly small and nimble craft.

gunship- not as light as the fighter, the imperial gunship is capable of inflicting substantially more damage- if you're not in a hurry that is. This ship is armored with Irismium armor and Type C shielding. The weapons loadout includes a pair of turreted gauss cannons and a pair of forward firing fusion pulse guns (FPG's are not as light as the gauss cannon and instead deal thermo damage but have somewhat less projectile speed). Looks like a greatly cut down current ranx dreadnought

cruiser- uses the original ranx dreadnought graphics. Is armed with four turreted FPG's and a ranx howitzer. For protection it boasts heavy Irismium armor and Type D shields

dreadnought- a huge and impressive craft, it might look a tad bit long and spindly, but it's none the less the doom of all lesser ships. Armed with two ranx howitzers, 4 FPG's, 4 gauss cannons and a ranx mass driver system doubling as a point defense, this behemoth is rivaled by few. It uses massive Irismium armor and Type E shields.

imperial dragon- a special ship that is the parallel to the sung's dragon slaver, this ship was actually build from the same technology. It has the general shape of the dragon slaver but is much larger and is based on ranx architecture. It is armed with an antimatter cannon, 4 ranx howitzers, 4 forward FPG's, two rear FPG's, 8 gauss cannons, and a mass driver system. It is armored with the same massive Irismium plates of the dreadnought and Type F shields.
