The little tiny ships don't necessarily need textures, but the medium and large ones tend to look better with them.

the centauri have a number of possible additions planned:
1 ) raider has a nice, but short ranged gun, and new graphics, and looks something like a fusion of the current raider's materials and old raider's shape
2 ) new ship, gunship, using the current raider's graphics and is essentially the current raider + 2x damage and 2x range
3 ) heavy raider is pretty much the same, but almost always use CLAW cannon
4 ) new ship, heavy gunship, is pretty much the same as the heavy raider, but with a Type I shield (5HP -_-) (rarely a 10HP Type II), and it primarily uses the heavy CLAW cannon. Has new graphic illustrating the shield housing at the aft, but looks very similar to the original heavy raider
5 ) new ship, raid freighter, is nothing terribly fancy, but it has heavier armor than most centauri ships and a pair of omni light-recoilesses
6 ) new ship, cruiser, is about as heavily armored as centauri ships get, and also packs a rather powerful armament: CT45 main cannon (a centauri blast cannon), a heavy CLAW turret, and 4 light recoilesses on the perimeter. Don't worry: it will never appear in Eridani or other level 1 systems.
7 ) station defense turrets, nothing fancy here. Each has some form of recoiless cannon
8 ) centauri command base, these are large stations with a set of rotating turrets [YES! the images move! :3]
There might also be several "boss" type centauri ships that rarely, if ever, appear in a normal game: (Don't worry, arco stays as a special heavy raider as the local eridani warlord)
Ideas include:
Centauri battlecruiser: a large capital ship that could possibly take out a centurion or two. The idea is that it would act almost like an early-game phobos, sort of like how a Tripoli would work if they were prowling around level 3 or even level 2 systems.
Centauri carrier: a large capital ship that would dispense various lighter ships. It wouldn't have as much raw power as the battlecruiser, but that's what its smaller ships are for.

That Therrusian ship will be colored silver and here's his backstory:

The therrusians use only gravitron and singularity weapons, and there is nothing beyond the 25th level [as defined by george] in TX2 either (which magic types would be)
Anyways, as to the centauri ships, after talking with alterecco, the cruiser is replaced with a monitor, and any boss ships would simply be up-gunned versions of existing ships.

So, the magi-tech'ed weapons like the Star Light Breaker (and its final spell: Divine Buster [Lv30?]) will fall at Level 26 Technology or if there's Level 0.
To admit, the Hatsumi Ray & Hatsuya Arrow were supposed to be magical but it turned out not to be magi-teched.
BTW, your mod's so epic that I want to put the Therrusians in my SLC, as allies of the K-Corp.

Actually, most of my work lately was solely done in the XML on balance... [and failed scripting attempts]
So no, I havn't done anything related to graphics recently. However, in the last couple minutes, I did make a centauri ship.

See those small ships? those are the new centauri raiders! I painstakingly tried to recreate george's color and rendering style (well, the hardest part really was experimenting with various textures and levels of Anti-Aliasing to get it to the right amount - that is actually a lot harder than you'd imagine)
Notice the shape? A little homage to the old centauri of .98d and before. :3
They are smaller and faster than the other centauri ships, have tiny range, and alone, its not going to make a dent in class II shields, but in a large group, they CAN be dangerous, just like hornets (but these guys are easier to hit, being bigger and slower).

anyways, I'm posting a new version of TX2, thanks to bobby having let my use his upgradable wingmen mod from so long ago... (finally got around to updating the UGW code...)
Not all of the autons are upgradable yet: actually, only a few are. (mule + 2 of mine)
Known "bug": the auton DS says "rename this mule" even if its not a mule
