Thanks to all who have donated to the development of the game so far.

Right now we have a little under $500 from donations and I'm starting to think about how to invest the money.

I have two ideas:

1. Buy Facebook ads to increase awareness of the game.
2. Hold a mod contest and give away $100 in Amazon gift certificate to the winner (and maybe some runner-up prizes).

I'd love to hear other ideas--particularly from anyone who donated so far.

I'd advertise and defray hosting expenses. There are probably some places to buy adds other than FB as well, but I don't know.

I agree on the advertizing and hosting. Perhaps a competition can be held next time around, when the community has grown and hopefully more modders have become experienced.

I think there are more opportunities for prizes than just monetary ones. Winners could have their names / usernames used for planets, ships, etc. in the official game, for example.

I like this idea too.

At minimum, some of the mods could be incorporated into the core game (or at least hosted as "official" extensions on the main web site).

Indeedy. Good incentive for modders to work hard. :D

:D (well, I suppose I already got this with the st.k's update you did)

I need to put funds in my paypal account :P

Anyways, george has the right to reuse any of my mods (either as official mods or ingame content), though I think I said that a year ago XD
At least my graphical style is VASTLY improved since then!

Perhaps you could get someone to redesign parts of the site that could use some updating? Like the forums.

Though, I like the idea of a modding tournament (or something similar), but people who donated money to you probably wanted it to go towards the game directly.

You could, perhaps, get *someone* to make a copper model of a Sapphire Yacht, and mount it on a wood panel (i.e. a trophy) for the mod contest?

I dunno. Just some ideas.

Psh. You've got volunteers right here who are willing to help out!

Hi George,
Maybe you could check into more targeted advertising?
Gaming sites.
Freeware sites.
possibly game dev sites.
That sort of thing, to appeal to an audience that is more inclined to be interested in Transcendence.

Have you pursued having reviews written at any freeware/shareware game sites?
