Surely this has been made before?

Twice actually. Once on a profile somewhere that had rabid enthusiasm for it. It wasn't my computer and I was a little worried about the reliability, so I didn't download it. When I got back to my computer I couldn't remember the name. Luckily Shrike dropped the link on pardus eventually.

Aha! Another pardusian dragged from the shadows!

I learned about the game from friend (in Pardus) who linked me to it. I decided to try it, and stayed up the entire night on my laptop two days later to finish my first playthrough to heretic....at which point I got disintegrated.

I'm from BSF (battleships forever); ever since the first transcendence thread, they periodically get a new once, I think they are now on their 3rd or 4rth based upon my last visit. Anyways, once I found out about transcendence, I relocated here as my primary place of interest. A lot of the old UTF guys were still active back then... I wish that they still were around. :/

Anyways, I wonder how long till I bump into someone I recruited.

Also got an acct activation email from somenoe who found out about ranscendence through the tv-tropes article XD

I was googling around for some quick freeware games and there was this site that gave a informal review on T0.99c and a link to George's dl page.

No idea what mod that is... Though sorta. I started on one, but I got stuck, because they didn't have a feature implemented yet that I needed. Then I got busy with other things [read: transcendence & RL]

I found out about Transcendence through [DATA EXPUNGED].
[schilcote] It doesn't have to be good, it just has to not be "wow is that the only thing you could think of" bad

Was searching for good Freeware games and came across a top 10 list. Tanscendence was #4 and it looked wicked so I downloaded it. Been hooked ever since. :D

I too stayed up all night for 2 days playing it every time I got a chance.

"Good question" was my first thought when reading this threads heading ...

Hope some of you can fill in the gaps:

I head of some guy who wrote a game that could be loosely described as "nethack in space". However, all I could remember was the word "neurohack". Did sound somewhat misleading (some crossing of neuromancer and nethack?) at first, but lead me to George's homepage.
I wasnt really sure I was looking at the right place because of George's interest in astronomy, but finally read the word "Transcendence" on the page ;)

I guess that was around, maybe even before 0.98 ... Though I didnt care much for this forum back then ;)

Now my question is: Where could I possibly have heard about George and Transcendence?
