Is there any chance to portabilize Transcendance?

So it will run from a thumb drive/external media?

http://portableapps.com/

Just curious.

it is already portable, just put the game folder in the portableapps folder in your drive and an icon should show up in the menu

Geee, that's nice. Thanks. That took a whole 2.5 seconds LOL

Any chance PortableApps.com might/could host it?

Fair enough, I'll let them know.

Great game by the way.
I originally found out about it from a MaximumPC disc I received with the Mag way back when. .98 or .99 IIRC. the game really needs more publicity.

Hi! saw you when you were just registered - you got really lucky XD

As a result, I was able to activate your account within minutes of you registering; normally people have to wait several days now before one of us administrators can go through and find all the valid users in the sea of spambots.
Before we were promoted this summer, back when george (and gambit, who is rather innactive on the forums) were the only administrators, activation could take from days to months, and in a few cases, years.
XD
Just thought it was funny how lucky you got it.

Anyways, yes, transcendence is very portable already ;)
Got it on my flashdrive with me in fact. XD

I think you should email george and ask about the portableapps.com hosting. Perhaps he would be willing to set up something? It is a good idea at least.

I'll drop my 2 cents here, I found this game originally on a portable apps site, it is free except it rights one thing to the registry - saying it was run (or something like that) so its effectively portable.

Sent George a PM anyway...
I am interested if you might be willing to host Transcendance on PortableApps.com

that one thing to the registry is wholy unimportant as far as I can tell.

When Transcendance is started, It pulls the name from my windows user name. And saves the .SAV file under the same "name.SAV"
Why?

Why not?

It is a starting point I suppose. Forcing the user to enter a username might be annoying? We could also just all start with a generic username, like "Steve" :D

I think bob is better fit. However the name thing is not a huge issue, its easily changed. :)
