I thought that it might be fun to create a test to gauge how experienced everyone was. Then post your scores here!
There are 5 questions here:

1. Have you made it to Heretic?
A. What's Heretic?
B. I've heard of it, but no.
C. Once or twice
D. Loads of times

2. How do you set up your ship?
A. I just install things as I find them
B. I know what some items do, but I really just wing it.
C. I search out my favorite weapon/shield/armor and ignore the other items.
D. I have a carefully planned ship layout.

3. How many times have you beaten Transcendence?
A. Never
B. 1-2 times
C. 3-4 times
D 5+ times

4. When you see a Phobos coming, you:
A. Don't know what a Phobos is
B. Try to lead it to a friendly station
C. Hide amongst the planets and kill it through strategy
D. Have a good enough ship you can just kill it.

5. How many times do you tend to die on a game?
A. Never finished, so I don't know how many I'll have
B. 400+
C. 100-399
D. less than 99

BONUS QUESTION
Have you ever beaten the game with Permadeath?
A. No
B. Yes

Scoring: A=1 point
B=2 points
C=3 points
D=4 points

Bounus question: A=0 points
B=10 points

Add up your score and post it below. I got 17/25.

1 - B (well, I have been there, but never in a fair game)
2 - B (Umm, I cheat! That means I don't know anything :D)
3 - A (I can not count the times Transcendence has beaten me!)
4 - A (why is "Run Away" not an option?) :D
5 - A (usually I only die once. When I have finished testing that is)

I guess that means i get the large sum of:

7 points!

Yay :D (I get points!)

@Datal: Permadeath means not continuing the game after dying. You only have one life (death is permanent).

1 - D
2 - B I don't bother figuring everything out too carefully and just use whatever is available (makes the game more interesting) but I do know what most things do. I've pretty much used all the low level stuff, though I do ignore some high level stuff as it is expensive and I check the wiki and the specs don't look that good...
3 - D
4 - D
5 - D
Bonus - A, I'd say I've beaten it with permadeath about half the time.

BTW, I have only started playing with mods in the last 6 months or so. I've been playing since 2005.

28?

Well, I've never farmed Phobos before, so I'm afraid that I only score a total of 30/30.

Maybe I'll do some Phobos farming in my next game so I can tie with Wolfy. :twisted:

1C,2B,3D,4D,$C. No Permadeath

Though I must say, that this might be the exact thing that is good with Google Polls (Docs) and similar - the ability to collect this information and create an easy to view result and comments from such.

2: A Planning is for wimps. And seriously, how the heck do you have a planned layout in a roguelike? That wrecks half the fun.
3: D
4: E I leave it well enough alone. What's this obsession with attacking giant dreadnoughts? It's a remarkably bad idea for your health.
5: D I hardly ever play without permadeath.

There are a finite number of devices & you can reject a massive number of the loadouts off hand, and thus develop a system of conditionals to figure out what to have & use based on the status of what you know the session-universe is like at the moment.

Its not hazardous to your health when you can take several of them on at a time and come off without a scratch. +150% equipment. 8-)

Yeah, you don't get extra points for hunting phobos. You see one coming. Also, it's out of 20, not 30. Permadeath is extra credit :P

The bonus question is extra credit, so your score is actually 30/20. No extra point for making up an answer :D
