I am around St. Katherine's Star now, and I feel like I'm getting the hang of things. There are though, a couple of things I am wondering about.

1. Do shops receive new money over time? I have a lot of stuff that I want to sell to an ice farm but they are broke and cannot afford to buy it from me.

2. How do you know what you can and cannot order from a Corporate Trading Post? Is there a list somewhere or do you simply have to try everything out by typing it into the bar?
And can you only place 1 order per Trading Post in the game?

3. How can I be accepted into the military? Will that option be presented to me if I finish some more story quests around the area?

4. What happens when pinoccio says: ''My nose is going to grow now." ?

Thanks guys!

1. Yes, but if they already have too many of an item they won't buy more.

2. Nothing military, alien (i think), or notrandom, and yes, only one order per station.

3. Do a mission at a commonwealth fortress or the militia at the ring station in st. cats. I think some korolov or battle arena experience may be needed.

4. He has lied?

4. A paradox is created, and therefore his nose has both grown and stayed the same. i.e on all but the quantum level he has a long nose with a spot the size of his normal nose in the base which is twice as dense.

1a) Hint: If any of it is a luxury food item, you don't wanna sell it. It might make someone- or something- happy if you give them luxury food.
1b) Make a stash in a system withoout nomads, away from anywhere a Freighter might pass by (damned salvagers!). When you get a Trans-space Warp Drive, use it when you're over a Gate. You'll be pleasantly surprised- and find the perfect stash place.

2) pretty much, just order Longzhu Spheres. They are otherwise rather limited in appearance, and they're quite useful. Trust me.

3) What bobby said. Doing general missions at the stations on your way to St. K's is also a good idea, if there are any available. Just make sure you're prepared for them!

4) He is telling a true lie- If he was lying, his nose would extend. But, if such were to happen, he'd be telling the truth. Due to this sort of existential quandry, his nose would implode into a black hole.

Ignore this.

The first relies on messing with something that will eat you if you don't read the spoilers. Either you already know all about it and can make your own decisions or you should ignore it for your safety. In either case if you're early enough to see ice farms you can probably use the credits now more than you'll need the items later.

The second is also frequently incorrect. There are any number of things that can be better than longzhu spheres including any number of armor enhancements (all seem to order in groups of 4), patch spiders or patcher arms, thermo enhancers (can't enhance thermo weapons with longzhu; come in groups of 3), enhancer devices, and field crystals. Under certain circumstances some ROMs can also be worth ordering or even necessary to order.

As Atarlost wrote, exploiting that "something", known as a fabricator, with food requires precise knowledge of a table. If you do not want to be spoiled, ignore it. At best, you will lose items. At worst, you will die.
Download and Play in 1.9 beta 1...
Drake Technologies (Alpha): More hardware for combat in parts 1 and 2!
Star Castle Arcade: Play a classic arcade game adventure, with or without more features (like powerups)!
Playership Drones: Buy or restore exotic ships to command!

Other playable mods from 1.8 and 1.7, waiting to be updated...
Godmode v3 (WIP): Dev/cheat tool compatible with D&O parts 1 or 2.

Ignore this (I can be a jerkwad too!).

The first is a reasonable modus operandi, considering that the luxury food as mentioned -is the very thing that prevents you from getting eaten-. There is a finite amount of it available, and as such, it is a good idea -not to waste it-. Yes, it obtains credits, but a lot of other stuff can be sold instead, or simply suffer through an additional system while farming up money from enemies. Unless you're running a permadeath game, there is no reason that you can't experiment with the Fabricators. Especially if you don't mind save-scumming and saving before attempting, reloading if it doesn't work.

The second he does have correct, partially; while it cannot be used to modify thermo weapons, most weapons aren't thermo, and usually you want to be able to upgrade them to the best possible when dealing with the end-game. This comes through from Longzhu Spheres. If you have pressing needs of a different, non-military, non-illegal item (normally, you shouldn't by the point these start showing up) then by all means obtain one of them instead.

Thanks for the answers guys, you helped a lot.
I messed up some things pretty badly (lost 50k money, then accidentally saved because I used an unknown device that teleported me to another system, stuff lke that) so I have decided to start over with my new knowledge.

Everything is going pretty well, except for the fact that the Korolov Stations are being annoying. They will NOT let me do any missions. As soon as I try, they say they are 'going on a mission to the destory the Charon HQ in the system'. They ask me to come along.

Then the station gets destroyed, and they don't need my help anymore.

Why does this happen? It is really bugging me. Is this being triggered because I have a powerful ship?

Please help me out a little more :P

If that's triggering before you do any missions for them, it means that you discovered the hidden charon base.

Every time a Korolov station spawns, a Charon fortress will spawn somewhere in the outer reaches of the system. It is normally impossible to stumble on this station by accident, but if you use a military map rom, follow smuggler patrols, or use some kind of godmod, you can discover it prematurely.

Normally once you have completed a predetermined random number of missions for a Korolov station, they will ask you to help destroy the stronghold, and then they won't offer you any more missions. But if you prematurely stumble on the fortress, they will skip straight to the destroying.

This caused me no end of grief until I finally figured it out.

I like to scan systems as I go, i.e., I circle the star in orbits farther and farther out, I find lots of interesting loot in empty space doing this and quiet a few additional stations I would never have run across, but on the other hand, I always end up finding the Charon fortresses... and I usually like to do my 'scan' before doing missions because it gets rid of all the enemies that are not spawned by the mission that might interfere... lol, took me a while to figure it out :D

The point of all the open space is for you to adventure looking for loot: if you do it systematically you might find the things you are not armed for yet.....like 20 pirates at once.....and you do not have an omni of anything.

If you stumble on the Pirates' stronghold and win , you will shut down Korlov: no pirate base= no need for guards. No Korlov = no credit for missions.
If you do " scan" a system: by following transports with escorts, common traffic: go after the weaker versions of stations your freighters will most likely fly past but do not take on the fortress/ stronghold:
and for those of you that have not noticed: MOST times the stargate navs point in the direction of a friendly station/ the next gate.
Flying Irresponsibly In Eridani......

I don't like to kill pirates in cold blood ..I do it.. but I don't like it..

Hey since you have newbie as a topic and i am the new guy i wil just paste my q here( have to start somewhere) any why as i was reading i was like wtf is a super charger call me stupid but from my very limited car knowledge i would think is it like super speed upgrade and seeing that is it way better to boost the speed them the damage because like with the x-ray laser or lazer depending on your spelling from 3.5 to 5 is 1.5 that gives you 30% boost right off the bat then you can the lazer comulater that pushes you x-ray to 105% extra so you get 41 damage times 2 so a direct hit is 82 damage so what would a super charger weight in at ? Oh and this could be made a topic what is better speed & device chargeing vs. Just boosting the weapon damage i would really like to know what the rest of my allie transcendence fans have to say ;) i wil be standing by for your messages

A supercharger forces more air into the combustion chamber of an engine and generally increases torque dramatically at the cost of lower fuel economy, since the supercharger is powered by the engine itself rather than by waste exhaust gases like a turbocharger. As for how it would relate to a starship weapon, it would probably increase the rate of fire more than a weapon optimizer but it would take more energy to fire. Anyways...

Here is the latest version of Transcendence: http://www.neurohack.com/transcendence/ ... =15&t=4346

You can get Transcendence mods here: http://xelerus.de/index.php?s=mods

I believe the ship icons next to our posts change as we post more, so if you stick around then it should change.
