In the Transcendence storyline, the Ares, Martian clones who have been at war with Earth and the Commonwealth for a long time, supposedly live on Ares Prime, a world on this side of the heretic gate. Now my question is this: where is Ares Prime? The system of the Charon Pirates is clearly named, and the capitol of human space, Saint Katherine's is as well. But for the Ares, their system is not named, which leads one to wonder where their system actually is. The only in-game reference to the system is when the player is speaking with the high priest of the Huari people. Is the system of Ares Prime actually on the other side of the Heretic gate; and if so, what arrangement do they have with the Iocrym? Also, the Iocrym deactivated the Heretic system's outbound gate, so if the Ares' home world is actually on the other side, then how are they sending supplies to their people on this side?

That's a great IRC day question ;)
For starters, many systems still aren't in game, like Sol and the Ranx systems. I'm thinking that Ares Prime is also supposed to be in Vanilla, but George hasn't gotten to add it yet.

My Input on this is opinion and Guessing based on what i have seen: the actual details might vary:
==================
George has indicated that he has over 200 systems coming into play for the future of the game:
At Present, Vanilla has systems where you are mainly encountering Ares / Ranx : this as close as you can get at the moment because the handling of the action in game for more detailed sovereign specific systems has be worked out.
many systems require things that the current versions are trying to debug : require the testing of those ideas : a system like Ares / Ranx requires alot of action packed activities that could crash the current vanilla game :
( eq I like to order the traffic codes to have the ships respond to assaults : in vanilla that causes issues because the game gets these glitches of trying to update too many ships having action and changing orders : Such AS : an event where a hostile patrol meets the traffic causes fighting, that is fine in other versions but in the Official game version it will crash from trying to update the weapons, hitpoints and missiles.....most of the testing versions the game can handle most of this action with no problem. )

There has been many efforts to do extensions or adventures that would include these systems: Also: the point of these sovereign specific systems would be missions, I have done attempts to simulate a friendly ares: others have done similar things : but exactly how they would fit in the story only George knows and exactly what kind of missions there would be?? I can not even imagine but at present I think Professor Dall might have an answer to the beginnings of one......

They probably are the cause why the Iocrym have deactivated the outbound gate, the Ares are probably a enemy of the Iocrym and when the Ares arrived on "our part of the galaxy" the Iocrym fear than they could become more advance enough to cause some trouble, they just close the gate. "our" Ares wasn't capable to get more supplies or ships from their people, entered in war with Earth and the Commonwealth may be caused a language accident then start to design and produce their own design ships from the knowledge than they carry with their ships to defend their people in the war with the Humans, so the Ares could be much more advence and have new design ships in the other side of the gate....

Just a shot in the dark...

a guess...

Actually, its not in the game yet for the same canonical reason that Sol and the Ranx systems aren't; they simply don't lie on the linear topology. For a more RL answer, George is leaving these systems in the domain of official extensions.

I actually piloted a ship at Epsilon Eridani : crashed horribly: but to get Sol into the mix the galaxy would have to collide and there is so much to it. and even if I were to try: I doubt I could rationalize anything other then a gate in Elysium and the only way to do that rationally is start the player there.....in my opinion.

p.s. : i say " Flying Irresponsibly In Eridani......" I actually mean it: I never get far from space dock without autopilot.

Umm, I'm not entirely sure what shane was trying to say. I presume that was with a mod? Or something?

Yes I have to admit that Shane's post left me wondering.
I'll say the same for Christian's post; it came out as complete gibberish to me, but seemingly a good effort all the same.

the problem with ideas is they negate communication.

the system maps I have access to clearly show ( as you seen in the image ) that the Universe is a big place and habitable areas can often be far from each other : there is no such thing as " empty space " : one rock is all it takes to wipe out your best ship.

I tried Sung and Ares space : far too much action for my Dell :(
but I will keep trying...my Cruiser isn't dead yet :)

Shanejfilomena we are trying to gather where you got that map from (is it a mod?)

On the second readthrough I understand what Christian was trying to say (That the Iocrym could have feared the Ares because of their technological prowess and That is why they closed the stargate, severing their military forces from their home planet)
But I don't agree.

Otherwise I just plain don't understand what you mean by:
"get Sol into the mix the galaxy would have to collide and there is so much to it. " and
" I doubt I could rationalize anything other then a gate in Elysium and the only way to do that rationally is start the player there.....in my opinion. "
Shanejfilomena.

Are you saying that the only way for it to be plausible for Sol not being in the standard gate system is if it were accessible via Elysium and in that case that the player would have to start there?

Otherwise I think the system simply hasn't been implemented for reasons which Wolfy explains.
Furthermore I would suggest that the topology explanation is flawed (because if there is no way to get there how did they get here?)

I'll just settle with the idea that the game is incomplete and that those systems will be added in due time (possibly within this decade)

Yeah, and no.
The USA don't fear China because of what it is, but what it can become. (This is way both of them(and one more, don't really need to say who is it...r...u...s...s...i...a...)don't stop to producing more and more weapons, to no let the other part become too powerful)

The Iocrym would never fear the ares because of what they 're, but may be, could fear what they could become.

The gate could have been destroyed...

And, (just a thought, and, yeah I'm a stargate fan), a connection between gates could have been opened and a nuclear explosion could have happened(not nukes, something more powerfull, like a huge ship exploding), and the outbound\inbound gates have been destroyed...

In such a case there would be a wrecked gate somewhere in the game (or atleast three, because we have Ranx system, Sol and Ares prime missing). Those things can withstand dark acid damage damn it!

The game is still in development and we will eventually see more content and lore as it progresses.
