An idea a munchkin can think of.

General discussion about anything related to Transcendence.

Human cadaver is an illegal "item" that can help the fabricator.

When you destroy almost any station, the description you read after you dock includes some form of "lifeless" bodies or forms.

Well, why can't I (the playership) take ALL of the bodies found and haul them to a fabricator and make it very happy (or haul them to a place that pays credits for illegal items)?

You are docked at the lifeless ruins of a destroyed station. Wrecked machinery and smoldering bodies litter the silent, cavernous bay.

They'd be all damaged, and they'll most likely rot before you could get them anywhere. :?

"You are docked at the lifeless ruins of a destroyed station. Wrecked machinery and smoldering bodies litter the silent, cavernous bay."

They'd be all damaged, and they'll most likely rot before you could get them anywhere.
That would be a way for the game master to say "No" to the munchkin, and make rocks fall on him if he persists.

Burnt, extra crispy corpses would take care of the generic dockscreen, but there are a few places that seem to hint relatively fresh corpses.

Sung Slave Quarters: "You are docked at a ruined structure once housing slaves. Lifeless forms float around in zero-G amid the scraps and mementos they once owned."
CSC Europa: "The bridge is completely smashed. Bodies float around in zero-G amid the shredded remains of consoles and other electronic equipment."

Bodies should be preserved enough, until player stuffs them in his life support bubble called the ship's cargo hold. At that point, it can rot like fresh fruit from St. K's. Of course, game master can still say "No" to the munchkin who wants a smelly meat wagon for his nefarious schemes.

As for rotting, it would be like fruit from St. K's. After it rots, nobody wants to buy them, BUT the fabricator will eat them just as happily as fresh, and (we know) the fabricator is the most powerful use for luxury food. Soul items like slaves and cadavers are even better, since they always raise deposition, and in greater amounts.

I can't believe I'm stating this, but corpses exposed to hard-vacuum are no longer specimen grade for obvious reasons.

Provided the game (master) allowed the player to take the bodies, that is up to the recipient (vendor, fabricator, Sisters, who/whatever) to decide. The bodies could be deep frozen, irradiated, partially decompressed, scorched, whatever. If there are bodies, and they can be worth something (human cadavers are), I want them!

This is not unlike an adventure module getting derailed by players who want to harvest an unobtainium hazard or obstacle (which could be worth more than the goal of the adventure itself) because the players realized its value sooner than the module designer or game master.

How various factions would react to a typical cargohold filled with defiled corpses:

Commonwealth: <insert player name here> was forcibly committed to a mental institution for the criminally insane. He never reached the Core.

Sisters: They would immediately brand the player an Oracus Cultist and deal with him/her accordingly.

Teratons: Admonish the player for being unscientific and bringing in contaminated specimens, and then distance themselves to avoid potentially harboring a mass murderer and subsequently receiving the CW's ire. The Fabricator would just treat those corpses as rotten food and/or radioactive waste.

Black Market: They don't want it if no one else wants it or is willing to buy it.

As it turns out, only a (really) crazy person would try to commodify a corpse.

PM, I hate to ask you this, but you're just acting this way, right?

In game (Transcendence), I do worse by blasting so-called friendly ships like Salvagers and Ferians. I let enemies destroy friendly ships instead of help them because I get loot, and helping friendlies can lead to trouble if your aim is bad and you cause collateral damage. Slaughtering people in the qualifying rounds of Battle Arena is rather evil too. I routinely sell military items I loot from enemies to the Black Market for maximum credits. I feed extra slaves to the fabricator after I get all Domina powers and rewards from Commonwealth stations. I have no trouble turning on the Huari (a.k.a. loot piñatas) after I save them from the big bad Dragon Slaver to reap even more loot if I want it. All of the above are probably more notorious than grave robbing, which is evil too. (EDIT: By the time I finish the game, I will clear the systems of enemy stations. My pilgrim will become the greatest mass-murderer in the QZ by the end of a game.)

Transcendence offers plenty of opportunities for the player to commit evil atrocities and profit from it, as long as it is not selling slaves or blowing up a Commonwealth/Corporate/Ringer station. Shaming the player with a so-called regret is not a punishment. It can even be a badge of honor (if the player cared to indulge such feelings) if the regret is eliminating a scrappy game feature, such as killing Salvagers.

In game (Nethack), I play a land pirate and/or sorcerer who uses black magic, kills most anything for levels and loot, and offer their corpses to a pagan god for powers and more bling. In this case, this is how you play, unless you try to win Nethack adhering to multiple conducts.

In real-life, I dare not these things! The wages of sin is death (of body AND soul)!

In my opinion, letting players loot corpses off stations and wrecks has many drawbacks: first, it'd become too easy to gain money, second, it'd lower other commodities' value(You'd never buy or keep any ringer ambrosias/spices if the fabricator accepts corpses) third, it's plain yucky. Looting damaged equipments or crates of commodity is normal(for a game), but collecting corpses from wrecks is more on the sadistic side.
