I read about the Linux system on this forum, and I would like to know more about it. Is it like Windows or better; which is the best and most complete version?

Thanks for the tip about ubuntu. I have requested a free cd to try it out.
Also; thanks to Fatboy for his comments. So for security Linux is better; sounds good. Which is the best version? I have heard of something called Linux Red Hat; though there must be many versions of that as the price flucuated from $35 - to over $100 for some. What is the best and most complete version?

If you are asking what linux is, Ubuntu is your best bet.
As for windows vs linux (ubuntu)
pro:
You will not get viruses on ubuntu (most viruses are made for windows). Security is also *much* better, but that isn't the main reason you don't get viruses.
As long as you have internet, you can get programs off the web safely without having to use a search engine. The "package manager" can fetch programs that you want wit
con:
some commercial games/programs do not work with linux at all. Most of them require extra work to run.
Letting windows/office users read your files can sometimes take extra work.
