I've noticed an interesting phenomena involving particles and momentum.....if you use a high-speed particle weapon with mid-high momentum, it can sometimes cause a momentum reaction that flips the target TOWARDS the firing ship...
I'm thinking about using this as the basis for some kind of "Disrupter Cannon" thing (the flipping only works on small ships, due to momentum being based on mass as well as speed).......using a repeating low-damage omni.
But I'm quite interested in working out exactly WHY it does this.....could it be passthroughs?
Looking for some help
Considering it only works on small ships when the projectile is moving fast...
I'd say that the collision detection is slightly off and the particle is able to move to the far side of the ship when it get's eval-ed and the momentum is calculated using that trajectory.
You could design a weapon to function based on this 'bug' but if it get's fixed your weapon won't work. You could achieve the same effect using a weapon event to modify the ship's speed or trajectory manually.

I agree, it sounds like another effect of the quantized time in TranscendenceConsidering it only works on small ships when the projectile is moving fast...

I've got a working prototype. It's working BRILLIANTLY......and is a really REALLY annoying thing to attack.
Imagine.....a weapon that is like a cross between the iocrym repeller, the Ion9, and an Arbalest....only it's an omni, with thermo damage.
Although......instead of instead of firing 1 shot 4 times in a burst, it fires 300 shots in under a second, spread out in 5 60-particle bursts, blanketing the target. Small ships caught in it can lose a decent amount of shield, and will sometimes be knocked about a lot, preventing them getting lock on you with non-omni weapons.
However, it does very little damage to most armors......despite the massive "OMGWTF is this thing heading towards me?!!!" value of the projectiles.
I'm still calibrating the range, but soon it'll be ready for release onto Xelerus.
I suspect it would be a great thing for a big NPC ship.....however I need to calibrate the range. At present, it REALLY annoys the hell out of you when you are trying to attack even a stationary target.

The Prototype "Hellfire" Defense turret, with 300 tiny bits of white-hot transuranics on their way to the target (the tundra).....it's a concept weapon, with a ~62ls range.
And that didn't even take out much of the shield. I'm currently working on range tweaks, and possibly upping the damage by 1-2 points....to make it usable as a WEAPON, as well as a disruptor. I also need to cut back the particle count from 60X5 to something more like 40X5.... Should be out on Xelerus at some point.
