Arms and armor

So I know that sometimes when I attempt to install armor, the game tells me this armor is too heavy for my ship. I don't know what the actual weight limits are, though, so I'm hesitant sometimes as to what to buy. Can anyone give me guidelines for the 3 player ships? (Right now I'm playing a sapphire, but I'm curious about the others as well.)

When you start a new game the armor limits are shown on the ship selection screen where you can see the starting equipment and the big picture and everything.

There is nowhere in the game that gives you this information.
