I think someone suggested a similar Idea earlier, But I'll bring this subject up again. I think since Makayev and Rasiermesser both have their own weapons and manufacturing plants, They probably get a lot of competition from each other. Why is it you cannot join Makayev or Rasier.? If one joins Makayev, they get to sabotage Rasiermesser, and Vice-versa. Here are some quick ideas for ranks.
Makayev ranks
-1 Regular
-2 Cossack
-3 Starshina
-4 XXX
Rasiermesser ranks
-1 sentinel
-2 Seargent
-3 XXX
-4 XXX
Also, Rasiermesser should have their own ship model. the Hessian.
It's design would be angular and sharp, similar to Rasier manufacturing plants.
Probably carrying a Rasiermesser Launcher and an Akan 30 cannon.
I'm just throwing this out there, I didn't think thru anything. So feel free to critique.

I had searched the .xml files over a question asked if the BFG was valuable to Dvalin......and I got the same inspiration to ask this very question because obviously they are doing " research" into weapons and shields: the Ares have their own stuff, the Sung do.....but they are selling or getting looted by the Ranx: but in DySy the Ranx have their own versions of weapons.....thus: there is corporate and military need to Advance.......
So this is not that far from the Obvious Need to the Universe if some Dumb Puppy like me saw it

That would be an awesome ship... But then who built the Corporate Cruiser? (I think Raisermesser did-- although the shields on the normal Corp cruiser sucks compared to an Omsk-II w/ Heavy Omsk armor)The Hessian
I think they don't fight each other because they are part of the Corporate Heirarchy, so if Corp controls both brands then sabotage ( but not competition!) is kinda pointless. That might be why both specialize in different damage types: with Makayev being blast/thermo and Raisermesser being (????- I don't know. I don't keep track of Raisemesser because the Makayev have won me over to their side with the Omsk series)
Although the circumstances may be different if my understandings of how the Corporate Hierarchy works are wrong.

Minor backstory that supports your point:RPC wrote:...But then who built the Corporate Cruiser? (I think Raisermesser did-- although the shields on the normal Corp cruiser sucks compared to an Omsk-II w/ Heavy Omsk armor)...
Makayev was one of the competitors for building the Corporate Cruiser. Their proposal was a monstrous cruiser codenamed "Omsk" [Imagine a Manticore scaled-up to cruiser size.] It was not nearly as elegant as the eventual winner.
They lost the contract for the cruiser (a fact that they resent greatly), but the Omsk shields and armor went into production.
Maybe a prototype of the Makayev cruiser survived, however...

So there were others? I wonder how Taikon's model for the Corporate Cruiser looks like.....George wrote:Makayev was one of the competitors for building the Corporate Cruiser.
I'm guessing Taikon lost because Corporate had to buy all the equipment in rins.
EI Corporate Cruiser? Probably using NAMI Heavy's I'm guessing.
A Manticore that big... That seems pretty unwieldy.George wrote:[Imagine a Manticore scaled-up to cruiser size.]
*EDIT: However, Makayev's resentment towards Raisermesser seems like a great in-canon reason to start a sabotage mission.

ok: here is a thought from an empty mind :
Rasiermesser is a contract merchant to the Corporation gone wild: like Douglas , Fairchild, Grummen, Lockheed......these companies are practically in their own Sovereign States on Company Property.
Rasiermesser is very much this way: their own R&D, they show up in a game when they feel like it, they offer trash defenses because they are set up to fight THEIR OWN WEAPONS : weapons they sold to the Sovereign Hostiles..Why did you think those smuggling ships are all equipped with Rasiermesser systems? When you capture weapons and shields from most Hostiles : they got Rasiermesser written all over them.
The only time they react with something more powerful is if you go there with high tech stuff / If they are in need of a defender besides the Cruiser ( a Manticore has been seen flying wing to a Cruiser in one game during a xenophobe worldship attack : it died and another took it's place, then the Xenophobe worldship killed the Cruiser , a teraton killed the worldship and there was Loot for Everybody ! )
So, I think that is also where the story can run because I always had the impression after realizing the maker of the weapons I was fighting: Rasiermesser is a problem .
P.S.: I envied the Corporate Cruiser Pilots, when I found I could fly one, I did: I do not envy the Cruiser Pilot anymore: the ship is so huge you have almost no place to hide or hide behind anything for very long ( which is Probably why it does not run in the game on a regular basis, too dangerous ) : I met this trader and he got me into the Corporate Scrap Yard : for 30K Credits I got a Transport half beaten to a skeleton and after years of tinkering I fly that now, not powerful, not smooth in battle , but I at least look good when i die

Actually, the corporate cruiser is not necessarily Rasiermesser, just the launchers. The armor is Taikon. The shield is unbranded. The hull could be Pacifica or Bushido or also Taikon. Since Rasiermesser is associated with the Ranx I'd expect their own cruiser design to be blockier. Actually, since Pacifica builds the Aquila they probably don't build the corporate cruiser. EI has a different style as well.
There's not much economy of scale in building capital ships in the real world so there's no reason every corp can't have their prestige cruiser design once you accept the existence of corporate hierarchy operated cruisers in the first place. I would interpret the Omsk cruiser as a competitor to the Aquila, not to the corporate cruiser.

I woulds say that is the Final Word on the Cruiser : BUT......back to the Corporation Family :
I am trying the Mission Framework http://www.neurohack.com/transcendence/ ... f=3&t=4073
ENJOY having it in the game : a great distraction : still has a few things obviously being " under Construction", but still is great to have.
However, After killing enough Sung to turn Hauri stations Green : I was asked to DESTROY CORPORATE Stations.
Namely the system had Adventure Outfitters and Thor's: 800 credits to do-in Adventure Outfitters.
BUT ..wait for it : The Kicker to the Story was that the Hauri Fired on Corporate Defenders to protect my ship !!!!!!!
( that is not in the code , I am sure : I can not find anything in any .xml )
Now you could Argue the point that out of the Humans only the Player is Allied with the Hauri and they were simply firing on a normal Hostile target....in their opinion : but the Sovereigns are not TOLD who to pick : I just found it Interesting they were set against the Corporation when there were other station sovs to choose from.
Perhaps the Hauri have an Old Bone to pick with the Corporation, could be something to do with Original trade attempts...or the Corporation ( expanding faster then the Fleet because of financial resources ) made a huge mistake by trying to befriend the sung?
Either way: this MissionFramework idea , i think brought out the Real feeling the Hauri have.
