In all my playing of Transcendence so far if there has been one thing that I've felt the lack of more than anything else it's a DCSS(Dungeon Crawl: Stone Soup)-like Ctrl-F function.
There are so many shops in Transcendence and it can be such a downer to find an Ice Farm and have to slog back through seven systems docking at every station to see if they have Helium Rods or whatever.
The text input and item matching code already exists (Corporate Trading Post), so maybe it would be easy? -ish?
I'm imagining something like:
Search for> "NAMI"
Found 3:
Eridani System - Commonwealth Station: NAMI Missile Launcher (1100 credits)
Eridani System - Makayev Space Systems: NAMI Missile Launcher (1100 credits)
St. Katherine's Star System - Victoria Arcology: NAMI Mine Launcher (30000 credits)
Search Function

Captain's Log has a search function in the ship interior screen. It's very handy.

that would require a restart of their game : however, the ice farms basically look for food and fuel : things that could reasonably be in the ship or are present in the systems they exist in.
working on commerce in the systems is time consuming and I enjoy it : but you must remember that your also there as a fighter : if you avoid the fighting, it WILL come to you : there are ships out there with orders to find you. so keep your weapons loaded.
To search the systems for stations with items would be a Zero. the items are random and unless the station was already made and operating, you do not know what they have until that moment . the trading post basically has the item you order created and brings it out unless it is not allowed ( they are civilians ) . they do not do anything Fancy by going to someplace to find it for you, if there was an actual place they go to: it could be destroyed and that would be no fun at all..
As you play you will start to learn what kind of stations hold what kinds of things : even if the items are random, they are level based and the kind of stuff you want has a level: you "should not" find level 7 stuff in a level 3 system ( but you can find a level 5 item sometimes ).
