1. wait
the wingman stays still and doesn't fire.
2. defend target
follow target and attack target's attackers
plus some way to repair the wing's ship. maybe complete access to the wing's ship, storage, equipment, fuel storage, etc. you can upgrade its equipment but you must also refuel it, maintain upkeep, etc.
idea: more wingmate orders, options
I've done that in my mod. Use a ship with a hangar, then one of the commands (under the "c" button I think) is escort target, but you need to have a targeting ROM to use it.l0mars01 wrote: 2. defend target

You can repair autons...by bringing it to the auton shop. Alos, a wingman has a lopt more orders. There's attack formation...etc.
>.<
Yeah, but there's maybe one auton shop in the entire game, so repairing via that method is a bit of a pain in the rear.
I think autons should be repairable at tinkers and such.... or get a "repair auton" to repair the others. Heh.
Actually... a repair auton that lets you swap equipped weapons and items in deep space would be rather useful... and quite moddable. 8)
__________
BTW, I like the idea for more wingman orders and wingman ship modification... in fact, if you gain the ability to fully equip a wingman's ship, then you're not just playing a "lone ship against the universe" game anymore: You're got an RPG-style adventuring party! And I love managing an RPG adventuring party.

Rats, I was gonna do that!FAD wrote:Been there, done that.

Yeah, it shifts game balance a little, but feh... think of it this way: in most RPGs you don't have to go back to town just to equip a sword or armor, so why have that requirement in this? As long as it's something you get later in the game, it's an example of your increased abilities.
Or think of it this way: having to go back to a base to swap in a weapon is not very interesting... and takes up time you'd rather spend doing something else. (It's the time-based theory of gaming: Basically, a game should let you spend as much time as possible doing what you enjoy and as little time as possible doing things you don't like or are uninteresting.)
Anyway, so... now that you've made the mod... link?
