Enemies that have only ammo-based weaponry will continue to hang around "attacking" even after they've run out of ammo and are fact just circling the player waiting to get shot and die. Happens a lot with Ranx gunships.
Seems like a good solution would be to have enemy ships that have only ammo-based weapons to head for the nearest stargate when they run out of ammo.
It also strikes me as a bit of a problem, though not as serious, that the AI will happily waste all of its ammo shooting at the player when he can't possibly be hit, like when he's parked on a planet.

hmm this could also be an issue with the forth coming canFire event but I am not sure how to say you can't fire now and you can't fire ever again.
Maybe in the canFire you would have the enemy gate out.
