Hi all,
Having played transcendence compulsively for a while and exhausted all of the challenges I could dream up, I decided that I should look into this fancy modding business.
I made a new playership this afternoon, which I put together with the following desiderata in mind:
1) I wanted it to fit into transcendence canon without asking any new commitments of it.
2) I don't like munchkin ships, so I've aimed at making it not appreciably better than other playerships. As it stands, I think it makes the early game easier by virtue of its heavy armor, and the later game more loot-laden but harder on balance.
I made 40 rotations, a new thrust, and a large image for the intro screen. I was thinking about what new weapons would be appropriate when I realized that it was 3:30am on a workday. My apologies for the simplistic graphics -- I was pleased with myself until I took another look at George's art.
It can be found at:

(no, I'm not trying to get sued by George Lucas -- I originally registered the domain on behalf of an artist named Lucas)

I have to say, I like this mod. It's nice to see something different than what we usually get here. I also lie how you did the perspective angle on it - I mean not looking directly on top of it.
Project Renegade (Beta) : "The Poor Man's Corporate Command!"
Real programmers count from 0. And sometimes I do, too.

Thanks! I tried to be as faithful as I could to George's perspective and lighting, using the angle on the Gaian terraformer as a guide, as it's the tallest ship I could find. I'm hoping to tweak it a bit -- proper textures, a bit more detail, e.g., some communications spines, and all that. I've only ever used povray, so it may be time to look into blender or other tools that don't require painstakingly combining primitives.

The camera is 6 units away and 12 units above the object.
The light source is 3 units to the left (as seen from the camera), 5 units behind and 5 units above the object (Note: treat the light source as being at infinity).

Those two should help @namer4

-_- Why do you have to be so mean to me? I just did it because I wanted some suicide methods!Xephyr wrote:I have to say, I like this mod. It's nice to see something different than what we usually get here.

Not bad, not bad at all. If I ever get (probably not) my playership mod done, yours will probably be better.
Charon Fizz-Soda! It's Red! It tastes like Awesomness! AND PIRATES MADE IT! Better than Eridani Mineral Water too!
