I'm in the Sanctuary system, pretty well equipped, especially armor. But the Dwargs keep hammering me, spinning helplessly while they kill me off.
What to do?

You're not the only one. There are a couple of tactics:

1. go on the offensive.

If you fly in the direction of the bolts with guns blazing, you'll shoot down some of the bolts before they get to you, and you can kill the dwarg guy before he can do to much damage. I use Omni weapons, so I usually hit "T" until I'm targeting the right dwarg and then hold down the space key.

2. Run.

If you turn away from the bolts and run away, you can sometimes outrun them, ultimately getting out of range (their range is insane!)

3. Hide.

You can park on or behind a planet, star, or piece of space debris, and let the dwarg fire at you. He'll eventually run out of bolts, at which time he will approach and fire at you with lesser weapons, and you can kill him.

4. Disappear.

If you have the jump drive installed, you can always jump away, either to avoid the bolts or after you've lost control of the ship.

Get yourself an Invincible deflector, its the best thing until VIII.

Don't worry so much about the Dwarg stations and ships, they're nasty and its not necessary to kill them to win the game. Other things are easier to kill.

As I was here to complain about the nasty & strong dwargs, blue etherium helped me alot.
Works on L7+ shields making them ion reflecting, so it does not work with the invincible but with a yoroi MX.

What do you think about the endless stream of spawns ?

What about modding wandering spawns which dont attack the player directly ?

Hey Eli why you don't do a thing that in my opinion is better to do.

First: pickup a good weapon like a Lancer cannon or a Mark I or Mark II howitzer.

Second: try to destroy the dwarg station, doing that they will follow you (only if not have a dwarg master with them).

And the ultimate: if you are with low armor or fuel RUN!!! :)
In the fear only have danger. And in the war only have tecnology.

Howitzers can work, but forget about the lancer or any other particle weapon. Dwarg Masters have particle reflect and they're the ones you most need to kill. A Katana's good against everything but behemoths. Behemoths, though, are usually slaved to fortresses not masters and circle at just the distance you want to use a howitzer from. The fortresses also reflect ion so you can't deal with the behemoths that way either.

You've basically got three options.
1) get in close and kill the masters ASAP. Some of the raiders will turncoat ifor each one you kill and they're the source of the EMP bolts. This takes a hard hitting non-particle weapon (eg. X-ray laser / dual flenser / Mark III+ Howitzer / plasma torch). It also requires an agile ship and a targeting rom is invaluable to get beyond visual range bearings on the masters.

2) long range spamming. Get a long ranged weapon and get 120 ls away from the station and fire into the mob. This takes a Katana, Howitzer (any version), or Flenser (dual or single). Any ship can do this, but you need the right weapon and you won't be able to keep doing this once behemoths start appearing.

3) seeking missiles. This is another kill the master tactic and absolutely requires a targeting rom. It also requires KM500 missiles. It's a little safer than option 1 and can be done in something other than an unladen Wolfen.

are you playing with the Freighter ?
This is what I do to avoid dwargs if I don't have a blue etherium.
Use the ZG24 Cluster MAGs.
They stop the cynodist projectiles, hit hard on the masters, they are very long range and destroy quickly the dwarg stations.
The deflagrations are large enough to fire approximately in the direction of the master and destroy it using 40-50 MAGs using the Freighter at full load (that means very slow and not able to close up with the master).
