I've had some issues with the Korlov missions, in terms of them being suddenly cut off and becoming unavailable.

For example, there have been a few cases where I've requested a mission, then canceled out of the bestowal dialog because I realized I wanted to do some logistics first, then come back in and it will no longer give me missions.

Ohter times I've just run out of missions really fast in a system, and in others It'll let me keep going for a great many before it runs out - but I've found no rhyme or reason to this.

In any case, I usually end up being cut off of available escort missions long before I've grown tired of them. I really like the new pirate destroyers you occasionally run into during these missions. :) (though if you fight them near a gate and start killing off their escorts you'll get an infinite wave of them until you kill the destroyer...)

is it due to all the ships docked there are too advanced for you to escort? That is what I noticed when that happened.
Crying is not a proper retort!

Hmm. That could well be it. I assumed it was some mission parameters, but it could just be what's literally in dock... I'll have to watch that and see if it changes over time.

Yeah, I'd bet you just don't have the rank required to escort most of the docked freighters. Level up at a different Korolov and come back. Also, as far as I can tell, if you skip a mission, you lose the ability to do it altogether. I think I observed this with canceling a mission, too. It would be nice if canceling gave you the same mission when you requested another, and skipping just cycled through available missions as opposed to both functions clobbering the mission altogether.

When you ask for a mission and then decline it, that freighter is no longer available to you (although it will still carry out the mission, though with a different escort).

Also, you can't escort any freighter that you're not rated for.

In either case, you can just wait a few minutes and new freighters will show up.

[Of course, it might be helpful if the message changed appropriately. Maybe something like, "all the freighters already have escorts" or something.]

Haha. Well, I got screwed a different way this time.

I was running my escorts just fine, but on my latest run the ship I was escorting took the last docking bay when I got back - and all the others were filled with FREIGHTERS no escorts. There were a pair of escorts buzzing the station that couldn't land either.

So... no freighter can ever leave the station because no escorts are available, and I can't dock to escort one out either. Doh!

(I waited for several minutes with autopilot on, and the stalemate never broke)

I considered blowing up a few freighters, but I figured that would probably permanently anger Korlov against me.

I had the same problem as well. Couldn't dock to complete my mission and try to get another one. It can be infuriating especially when you're due for a promotion.
I waited for quite a spell, long enough to realize that none of the docked ships were going to move while new freighters constantly kept entering the system. Eventually Korolov was swarmed by a lot of freighters waiting to dock.

Figuring this was going to be a reoccurring problem until it is fixed, I made a temporary mod that removes ships from the ports and sends them out the gate. Cheap fix, but effective.

If you (or anyone) have a save file of this condition, I'd like to see it. Freighters are supposed to leave even if escorts are flying around. [In fact, they should leave even if they can't find an escort.]

If it happens again, I'll save at that point and send.

Thanks!

Meanwhile, I've added some logic so that if the docks ever get full, a freighter gets immediately sent out.

Seems to be working. I haven't had any real problems with Korlov in .99b yet - except that I keep forgetting to upgrade my freighter to something heavier than a Hull Plate Ionizer before the pirate cruisers show up and blow me to hell.
