an image for use in gimp or photoshop, to ease creation of shield images for ships.

see here

it is supposed to make making shield images variable easily, but right now it only has the original green ring and blue circles, with a simple red shift. i am looking to expand this to include different colors or designs as well.

ship placement instructions for photoshop would be nice, i can only test with gimp.

this is certainly usable already. but is there anything you would like to see added to it?

updates will be placed on this post as they are completed.

UPDATE: new ring added, green standard with new fading effect
new ring added, green standard no fade, ie full strength until empty.

UPDATE: now has all three designs for the blue center, not just the wolfen's perfectly circular one.

I have GIMP, but I don't know how to use your program. Can you tell me exactly what you should do for your program to work?
If you cannot say something nice about somebody, you better don't say anything.

it's not a program, it's an image. you download it, unzip it, and open it in gimp.

for a list of brief instructions make the "instructions" layer visible and read it, after opening the image.

1 open it
2 make a new layer(near the example ship layer), name it the name of your ship if you want
3 paste the image you want to use to represent the ship into this new layer
4 erase any black or white square around it to transparency, so other layers will show through
5 center the ship image on one of the circles
6 copy it(rectangular selection tool works ok, because of the transparency), and paste it. don't lose the selection. now you have two copies, one on the other, move this second one down by 136 pixels and anchor the layer
7 repeat step 6 until all circles are filled
8 play with showing and hiding the various layers until you get something you like
9 save it, then save as a .bmp, you will have the choice to flatten or merge, either way it will be exported without changing the original, and you will have the finished image.
10 put it in the extensions folder and code the shield into a mod

also, until now it only supported the circular center like the wolfen, but i just updated it to include the rectangle and arrowish centers.
