Sorry that it's taken so long for a status report.
I don't have an immediate date for the next version and I expect the work that I'm on to take a few more months. But I want to give a quick update of where I'm going.
First of all, work on Transcendence has definitely slowed down for me, mostly due to outside events (i.e., Real Life). But I have made good progress. In particular, I have re-written the Rigel Aurelius system (the Battle Arena) to make it (hopefully) more interesting. Just like the re-write that I did for Korolov, the Arena re-write introduces new ships and new challenges, and I think you will all enjoy it.
Right now, I'm working on a re-write of the Heretic system. I'm keeping the final battle with the Iocrym (with some modifications) but I'm also introducing other challenges that will make the final system more interesting. The Heretic system will also include new bits of storyline that will reveal more about the Iocrym quarantine and about the player's ultimate destiny.
Lastly, I want to announce that the next version of the game will indeed be 1.0. It has taken us a while to get to that point, but thanks to everyone's suggestions and play testing, we are almost there.
I'll give another update as we get closer to the release. Thanks for your support!

Just started a new game - prior to reading these great news...
Had an awesome start (solar panels in Eridiani, also Orthosteel and Duranium ore, omni. turbo laser in sys3) and now Im thinking about whether to enter Rigel Aurelius or or wait for 1.0 ...
Any hints on that question?
Another minor thing: Is it possible to make Transcendence 1.0 ignore not used extension (eg. my god modded ship Im not using atm with no ai section)? I always forget to disable them before starting a new game...

Being a first timer here, but also having developed and helped developers before, I'd like to say it's nice to see that the game is still being worked on, even if it turns out to be a snail's pace compared to earlier.
My first mod, mostly done, still balance testing.

Anyways, this is actually more or less the typical pace between major releases: only the small patch releases come out less than a month or so apart (ie, .99 to .99a is fast, but .99c to 1.0 takes over half a year, but that's been more or less the pattern George has always worked by...).
