I just tried to use a spaceenviromenttype as a stargate instead of a station, and it doesn't work.

Any idea how can I make a wide area stargate (i mean gating with G) without making a 1000000x1000000 pixels station ?

What?
[schilcote] It doesn't have to be good, it just has to not be "wow is that the only thing you could think of" bad

What?
It's the xml element used to make nebulae in the game.
I tried to use it to create a wide area that could work as a stargate, unfortunately it doesn't work.

But a big station works? :D (good new for me... needed a 256x256 stargate-able area)

Hmmm... but itsn't space environement thingy just a single repeated image or set of tiling image variants or something?
so couldn't you just make a ton of 'stations' and a bit more manually place them?

Digdug, back in the day of version 98.d, there was a vanilla mod, which I believe may have had to do with mapping or some such thing; anyhow, on the long range scanner it showed stargates which were not visible to the naked eye. I cannot remember if I could gate through or not, however my idea is thus: create a large station graphic for the stargate which looks like the space background in Transcendence, with a regular stargate in the middle; as the nebulae is but a background with a variant nebulae layered on top (see the 99.c resources mod), so also would you have a space background with a stargate layered on top of it. In this way, you would essentially have the large gateable space you desired, although the work involved would consume some time in its execution. :-)
