With the new trading system lets think of some good stats for it.

Well the first one is buying cash cards. When this one is fixed it will not be a good use of it.

A thing I like to do is order 15 diamond field that way you can upgrade a shield to 150%.

Another nice one is to order 20 system map roms. They don't map everything anymore but it is very helpful for finding the gates and some friendly stations.

Any others that people like?

edit: has anyone tried the promethium crystal? It looks like you can use that to convert between credits and rins.
Crying is not a proper retort!

Man, I made the mistake of buying a stack of those credit cards. Spent all the credits I had to get them, only to find out they returned less per card than it cost me to buy them. After repeatedly using about a hundred of them and having roughly 900 remaining, I gave up and sold them at the next station that would buy them. Ended up getting about 42% of my actual credits back.

One time, I bought a bunch of those med supplies and delivered/donated them to that huge Commonwealth fleetship, thinking I'd get a promotion out of it...Dint happen. The Doc gave me a decent shield anyway.
Anymore, I'll either buy a mess of Longzhu's or the 1 GW reactor, if I haven't already accquired it.

Personally, first I go for 20 weapon enhancement ROMs. After that, Uranium Crystals, Longzhu Spheres and field crystals.

I've done uranium crystals, longzhu spheres, system maps...

I haven't tried enhancement roms or crystals yet...I'll have to look into it.

First thing I usually get is 16 regenerating nano barrels. They're cheap enough that I have a Mule or stash nearby I get even more. I can always find a use for these, as they are my favorite coating.

If it's early I get a patch spider or

You can only do it before they're identified, when they're only around 210 credits. Get platinum and recieve 5000 apeice. Only limited by your current funds and how many times you want to hit Use.

Also I've considered buying thermo cannon ammo, since it's relatively rare, and most ammo isn't military even if the weapon is. I haven't tried it yet, but it might make the thermocannon a viable weapon.

Ahh... See, that's the thing. I hadn't found or bought any CC's before going to the trading post. I typed in "Credit Card" and the post said there were some available, so I bought a mess of them. Found out they were just the blue cards-had I typed in "platinum credit card" I might have gotten them instead.

Another thing I think is great about the trading post; if the freighter that delivers your order gets destroyed before reaching the post, the post claims they're not responsible and to take it up with your insurance Co.
A very good reason to buy insurance ASAP, before going to the TP.

Trick to it is if the freighter gets killed, go collect from the insurance Co and then go scouting for that dead freighter-chances are it may have survived as a derelict and you can loot what you ordered while getting your credits back from the IC. Free goodies!

that happened to me. I ordered a 100mw reactor and the freighter was destroyed. I could see the freithter too. I looted the wreck and that was that.

Sure! If you have the right amount of postage and hire a super carrier to deliver it!

Seriously though. Last time my order (freighter) got taken out, I tried to settle my claim with the IC and what they said was that I had already purchased insurance...Nothing more. No reimbursement, nothing.

I haven't checked the IC code, but it would appear that George intends to have it reimburse you if your order gets taken out. At least, that's what the TP seems to hint at anyway.

As of v.97, I must agree with you. But I have a strong feeling that a future version we may see a connection between the TP and the IC where ordered items are concerned.

Hence the text in the IC code:
(setq desc (cat "Our conglomerate specializes in providing full personal and property coverage against death and destruction. Claims are settled by full replacement of life and property, including resuscitation and cloning. Based on your risk profile we can offer you full coverage for " gCost " credits. "))

And the text in the TP code:
(cat "We regret to inform you that your order for " (itmGetName (objGetData gSource "Order") 0x108) " has been destroyed in transit. "
"As we are not liable for losses due to external events, we respectfully recommend that you pursue the matter with your insurance company, if any."

The IC states full property coverage, while the TP suggests that you take it up with the IC.
