fortunatly for good gameplay, no, there is not. setting the laser to black will show up near stars, in nebulas, and on things that it doesnt collide with. transcendence also flat out refuses to generate an imageless projectile. you can fire that weapon, but iy does nothing more than drain your reactor.Aeonic wrote:So... is there actually any way to make invisible lasers?

Actually, if you take out the <effect> attributes of the weapon you can make an invisible weapon. The shots will still show on the map and any shot effects or hit effects will show but the shot itself is invisible. Damage and everything else remain unchanged.

I was actually thinking it might be fun to have an ICX system with invisible projectiles and lots of them. Of course, it would look pretty tacky on scanners now that I think of it.
