Grab this free tool to compute an MD5 checksum for the file.

I don't have it handy on this system to generate a checksum. Can someone run this on a verified working copy and post the checksum?

If I use it correctly my checksum is DF8717441D2308DAD48AB3A5F16585F4 for database.
And I have idea, can you George integrate something simmilar to this (Checksum checker) to instantly known if I (or others) have download corrupt version ?

That matches mine, my EXE is 74F620B18277CBB6FBBBEB0F0B2B63F6 if you want to check your original download, and 2A505921701C6E6D8C574E6EC4DB57D3 for Trans097.zip

Yes, I checked them, and have the same number for zip and exe files.
Result is simple - I downloaded uncorrupted version and problem is caused by another thing.

You know what's wierd? I've downloaded 0.97 onto THREE different computers (98, 98SE, XP) and it hasn't worked on ANY of them. Now that's just plain freaky.

Has anyone with a working version tried to redownload it and see if it still runs?

The checksum matches so the file is good.

Maybe a unicode v. ASCII issue? Seems to only be a problem with folks outside of the US so I suppose a language pack error might be the cause.

Ya know, all these corrupted files issues may not even be due to corrupted DL's, but instead, may be due to the zipping proggies themselves. No zip prog is 100% defect-free and may cause a file to go corrupt during the extraction (or even the compression) process.
Perhaps if one were to try several varieties of zip progs on the same file, may indeed prove this thesis to be warranted.

I do hope that George plans on implementing a self-extracting installer for the game in the near future.

There's also WinZip, which I got fed of using cos the default Windows one is easier, though not as good.

PlayMeNow wrote:Guys, I recommend using TugZip, and if it's about the installer, I can make one ;)
I have to agree with PMN about recommending Tugzip. Just DL'd and ran it on an existing corrupted zip file and it was able to extract the file with ease. It's totally free and without any annoying "Buy Me Now!" popup's when loaded. With the plug-in's (Also free and available for DL at the site) it reads and extracts RAR and ACE files as well. Like WinRAR, it can make executable zip files too.
This one's a keeper in my PC toolbox!
